Well I got my 90g of protein today, but I am still at 179 net carbs. I didn't go to the gym tonight, so I did some housework when I got home, then picked up after the dog and mowed the backyard for hubby. Still had more excess energy, so I washed my truck. :) I am finally sitting down after getting home and soon it is time for bed. I am looking forward to the gym tomorrow after work and a short class that they are offering about pre and post workout food consumption. Wednesday will be a busy gym day, because after work I signed up for a 25 min class with one of the trainers to learn a few new exercises, then I have my regular trainer for 30 minutes after that and a short dinner break before weight loss class. I will be at the gym for about 3 hours on Wednesday!!! Should be fun.

WOW - you got a lot done tonight and probably burned a ton of calories. Great job bumping up the protein! I really think it helps in the big picture.

Yep and hubby was surprised when he heard our lawnmower running out back LOL... He has been helping a friend work on his four wheel drive truck for a trip in August, so he has been short on time. Exercise is a little hard to log on here sometimes because there isn't one for mowing the lawn or washing a vehicle, but I just pick things that I think might burn the same and realize it is just an estimate. Anything except sitting in my chair or on the couch is exercise, right??? :)

Oh what did you learn about post and pre workout eating?

Most of what I got from the class was stuff that I had already read elsewhere, but I like to hear the different opinions from different people, so I was glad I went. Here's the basics: - Drink adequate fluids before, during and after exercise for optimal performance. The goal is to prevent dehydration from occurring during exercise. - Before exercise, a meal or snack should be relatively low in fat and fiber, relatively high in carbs (to maximize maintenance of blood glucose) and be moderate in protein. - During exercise replenish lost fluid. - After exercise your body needs adequate fluids, energy and carbohydrates (with some protein) to replace muscle glycogen and ensure rapid recovery. If you are going to exercise for more than an hour, then you need to replace your body's fuel before continuing your workout. - Sports drinks can have a lot of sugar, so read the labels and chose wisely avoiding too much sugar. - Food ideas before workout were apple and piece of string cheese, nuts & a hard boiled egg, cottage cheese and a piece of fruit. - Food ideas for after workout were banana with some peanut butter, carrots or a banana and some hummus, carrots and a piece of string cheese. Finally, she said to choose foods that work well for us the individual with the above guidelines in mind.

I often pound my chocolate protein drink with skim milk folling my morning exercise - body needs the amino acids, too. On weekends I sometimes drink half before exercise and half after - really does help me!

I have been drinking a glass of chocolate milk after working out, but tonight I opted for a peach fat free yogurt post workout, yummmm :)
