GlennM's Journal, 14 February 2008

Hi everyone - I mentioned the need for potassium in my post recently, and that everyone on Atkins needs to make sure they're getting enough of this vital nutrient. I had blood work a week ago, I saw the physician's assistant at the Veteran's Administration Hospital and everything was great as far as potassium levels, electrolytes, essential nutrient levels, etc. Just wanted everyone to know in case they missed my journal recently about it and the need for everyone to get a physical and tell the medical professional who is caring for you that you're on this diet so they can check things like potassium level. See my post on it - a person entered a lot of low carb high potassium foods many on Atkins might be missing in their diet. Also be sure to take a Multivitamin daily as sometimes I know I'm not getting the proper nutrients dieting even though this diet is doing wonders for me health and energy wise. My cholesterol is high but that is related to medicine and I will eat the foods that are good fats that decrease bad cholesterol and raise the good like avocados, nuts, olive oil and fish and continue to take my Omega 3 daily as the doctor told me to take it. Happy dieting to everyone -- continue on the path this diet can work but be as health conscious as possible too while you're dieting!!! :)
