Now that I'm back I'm restarting my current plan.

I am trying a combination of Nutrisystem and Dr. Fuhrman. Structure from Nutrisystem and food choices from Dr. Fuhrman.
What I did was look at the sample menu plan in Nutrisystem - about 1250 calories per day spread out over 6 meals, about 350 for morning and afternoon meals and 550 for evening. Then I looked at nutritional values for a cross section of the meals to get an idea of their content so I could make my own. There's also a "grocery list" that shows which foods are best for a low glycemic balanced diet.
Finally I'm trying to choose the most Nutrient Dense items among them and limiting my meat choices to no more than one a day and am trying to incorporate some grains in place of pasta, potatoes and rice. I also made some of my own substitutions e.g. TVP, unsweetend almond milk, egg substitutes, Splenda, protein drinks from Premier or Atkins or I use some powdered mixes and make my own. I also use some Atkins bars and Fiber One or Fiber Plus bars.
