gander24's Journal, 05 December 2017

Did really well yesterday for the most part. Trying to come off of a sugar/carb addiction so I caved and ate two cookies, but the rest of my meals were all healthy, well-rounded meals.
Last night I didn't get enough sleep, so today my unhealthy food cravings are through the roof. I juiced pineapples and oranges this morning for breakfast and am craving ground bologna and pickles like my grandma used to make when she was around. I need to do what I can to get in healthy fats and complex carbs in addition to greens for lunch today to try and help curb that craving. Being irritable and sentimental never helps anything either *le sigh*.

Maybe you could use ham instead of processed bologna. Try a low fat mayo. Eggs and Pickles. That would make it a little less bad.

I find healthy fat really does keep my Cravings at a minimum. Maybe some of that ham wrapped in cheese with pickles, no bread or anything like that, would do the trick for you. I have been eating salami and full-fat cheese for lunch and finding it keeps me full till dinner

Sorry to hear you going through this - at this time of the year, we all miss relatives. Some doing this (LCHF, Atkins, Keto) get better results with more protein... others, with more fats. Sounds like you're going to have to experiment (for about a week, each) to see which your body best drops weight with (and still stays satiated). Let me know how/if I can help you.

Everyone knows where I stand "Kill The Carbs" lower your carbs to 20 or less and your body will use stored belly fat for fuel, and you won't be hungry! Good luck!

Coming off of sugar, caffeine all of the same - Shakes, heart racing , headaches all are part of it. Drink lots of water and eat the good stuff to keep full -

As a sugar addict myself, I disagree with most of the comments above. I would not try to decrease carbs at all, at least not at first. It’ll backfire. Just change what kind you use. No white carbs or added sugars. Load up on fruit and whole grains. Fiber will help keep you full and help you change your habits. Once you feel in control, THEN worry about how many cals and carbs you have. Remember it takes about 3 weeks to change a habit. I personally need to take a “cold turkey” approach but that’s just me. I also very much prefer low fat. You can get all the protein you need without using fat to stay full.
