Are you in S. Florida??
(I worked at Big Cypress & Everglades and recognize the anhinga, vulture, strap fern etc.) I agree: amazing beauty- if you know where/how to look 👀

I'm more in central Florida! I've been wanting to explore south some more, but I'm nervous - any recommendations? Preferably with paved parking? (I've gotten stuck on one forest road out in the middle of nowhere and I've been scarred ever since 😭)

Everglades and big Cypress are my favorite parts about south Florida!
The road through Everglades is all paved.(parking too).
Here are popular places in Everglades: (www.NPS.gov/ever): Anhinga trail, pa-hayokee overlook, Shark Valley (tram and biking) Flamingo (on gulf with birds, gators, crocs!). In Big cypress (www.NPS.gov/bicy), Oasis VC (lots of gators), Kirby shorter board walk, Turner River road (gravel- runs along a canal- sometimes lots of birds/gators), loop road (gravel). Be sure to catch a slough slog or wet walk if you don’t mind exploring with your feet wet!

Oh! And if you get the chance to take a Turner River canoe trip in Big Cypress with a ranger, that’s fun also! (Red mangrove tunnels, crocs, orchids, birds, oh my) and top it off with an astronomy program to enjoy some of the darkest skies in S. fL! ⭐️ 🌺 🐊 🦅. Have fun exploring!!

Ooooooo thank you so so much! I know what I'm doing next time I have a couple days off 🥾🥾 Someday I need to get myself some waders. I've been known to hike trails flooded to my shins so my regular boots aren't going to cut it 😅
