lyndachamplin's Journal, 26 April 2022

What crazy 6 weeks this has been. Hubby had a quadruple heart by-pass, 18 hr later they had to go in and clean out the blood clots blocking his drainage tubes. Then he went into AFIB. He was intubated 2x's with Nasal gastric tubes also. He was so weak. His back pain was a 10+ then the incision started to drain- like a dripping faucet. They put on a Wound Vac. He was in ICU for 13 days then transferred to cardiac rehab. He was there for another 14 days. I was with him every day for 4-6 hours. He lost 30 pounds. There have been some extremely hard days for me- I missed him so much. But he's been home for 14 days and is getting stronger every day. He is able to do his morning grooming. He walks with the roll-about. His appetite is improving, and he has gain 4 pounds. Still has a long way to go - and he is determined to get there. I am now the health advocate, caregiver, chauffeur, cook, bottler washer, plumber, laundress, pill giver, vitals taker, communicator, motivator, tear wiper, and hug giver. But you now what I would not change it for all the world. He is my World and I'm not sure where I did be without him. So to all of you who continued to keep us in you prayers I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the kindness you have shared us, (((HUGS))) and Blessings to all.

May God grant you continued strength, courage and skill as you minister to your husband. Though it is so very difficult at times, it is also such a great honor & privilege to be there for him. Blessings to you Lynda💙🙏🌷

You are definately in my prayers. (I understand totally because I have been there.) You are such a dedicated wife. It is actually a nice feeling to be helpful in treatment and recovery. Blessed day. xox Louise sugarplum_

I know the struggles of being a full time caregiver for a loved one. I know the strength, patience, and humility, and commitment it takes to provide for someone in need. You should be proud and I wish you all the strength in the world to keep walking your path. I am not a religious fella, but I am rooting for you and your hubby.

Thank you all- These words of encouragement are just what I needed today. We both were in tears this morning. His back pain was 10+ and I got the brunt of his frustration. ((((HUGS)))) and Blessings to all

((HUGS)) to you and your entire family. I can't begin to imagine how this all must be effecting you. I was quite taken aback when I viewed your profile. We have a lot in common. I started at the same weight you did, and I've also been married 33 years to MY night in shining armor and while I'm not quite a great grandma yet, I have two beautiful grand children. I'm so glad your husband is home now and getting stronger with each day. I hope you don't if I follow you. (((HUGS)))

Thanks Skinny- It has been such an unbelievable year so far. Keep in touch- I need to have a comrade in the Battle of the Bulge fight! I started January doing a daily average of 138 steps/day. For April it's 884. It has helped my breathing. While some nights I do get leg cramps, but I try to drink more water. My days are now filled with taking care of my honey. So many things to do and still get the house chores done. Keeps me moving-which is good at 74.
