Did my calf stretches on the Foot Rocker last night. Seven hours of solid sleep with dreams, one hour in drowse mode. I wonder if cutting back from three very large cups of caffeinated tea to one has helped with my sleeping. I'm trying to build a habit where I do a plank on a chair when I get out of bed. Eight minutes on the Sunny Air Walk Trainer first thing in the morning to burn glycogen. Today is cooler with less humidity for a couple of days. Enjoy it while it lasts.

According to the Omron body fat monitor, my body fat is 23.1, lowest ever, and my BMI is 19.1 (somewhat dehydrated). This is the first time I've noticed the BMI reading. I've been focussed on the body fat reading. My body fat is dropping pretty quickly. Either the exercise and the decrease in sugar is paying off or the Omron is inaccurate. I'm losing weight, but I'm still deconditioned and my nutrition needs work.

Fourteen minutes of stretching in bed. Strength training: 20 minutes of leg exercises around the chair with 1 1/4 pound ankle weights, leg lifts, knee lifts, toe raises, two sets of ten reps each; 23 minutes of leg exercises on the mat with ankle weights, two sets of ten reps, leg and knee raises, hip abductions. Cardio: 45 minutes of Air Walk Trainer while watching "Last Comic Standing"; 1328 steps.Last night while walking on the Air Walk Trainer, I actually ran across an episode from the first season of Grimm I hadn't seen.

Today was an up day (eat all I want) and a strength training day. First day for an omelet without the Rotel tomatoes and green chilies. I'm thinking about throwing together a tuna and cannellini bean salad this week instead of another pizza, great for warm days. Hope the beans aren't too salty. If so, I will soak or wash them. Also planning to fix sweet potato slices this week.

Had a whey protein shake using a new Blender Bottle. Still won't get that little bit of powder on the edge which is true of all of them. Now that I'm trying to cut back on salt, Relay Foods is looking good as a source of fresh produce. While Kroger is a step up from Family Dollar, a lot of its processed foods aren't much better. I started taking one potassium caplet daily to deal with the salt. Put a pizza cutting board on my wish list at Amazon.

Two interesting factoids from reading newspapers today: keeping a food diary doubles your chances of losing weight and fitness trackers have a 45 percent abandonment rate. Studies do show that fitness trackers encourage people to exercise more. I've developed a pretty good habit of wearing the Smart Health pedometer. The Lifeline Power Wheel arrived. I don't whether it's a good idea to use it with the hernia. I want to strengthen the muscles in my abdomen but... That's it for my fitness purchases for a while unless I see a really great deal. I need to assimilate the purchases I've already made and organize my so-called home gym before any more

Now that I'm wearing the hernia belt, I'm going to have to go back up a size on the next pair of running shorts I buy. *sigh* It's always something... One thing the hernia belt does is highlight or accentuate how much subcutaneous fat I still have on my stomach. I still have two-and-a-half months to sign up for Medicare without a penalty. Time to get cracking and find my Social Security card.

I want to work my way through the fruit I have stashed in the freezer: smoothies, plus I have a Yonanas, a machine turns fruit into a healthier ice cream which I haven't used in a while.

Both the Nook and the Kindle tablets are giving me aggro. The Nook kept crashing and restarting so I had to hard reset it. The good news is that about half-a-dozen movies showed up in my library. The Nook still crashing and restarting after the reset. If it keeps doing this, I may get a dual-boot pure Android card and try that, but reviews indicate crashing and restarting are still a problem. For some reason, I can't share web pages using the Kindle browser. Aside from the fact that it should work with the Misfit Shine, the Asus Memo Pad is looking better and better.

The numbers of carbs, sugars, protein, everything on your food choices are awesome today (August 14). Do you feel ok eating such low calories, with all the workout you do?

Thanks, Deb_N. I plan to bump my calorie count on down days up once I hit maintenance, as per "The Alternate- Day diet." I still have some subcutaneous fat (I can see it) and visceral fat (I can't see that but I know it's there - metabolic syndrome) to get rid of. Keep, in mind, I don't always remember to record everything - a fruit cup and a tablespoon of Hidden Valley garlic parmesan, in this case. I was actually trying to eat more, but I ran out of time and inclination. I wasn't that hungry. I'm back on the whey protein shakes so I get enough protein (not really a problem for most Americans) and I'm drinking more water and other fluids to stay hydrated. Keep in mind I don't do more than 45 minutes of dumbells in a day on a strength training day (optimum length), if that. The weights I'm lifting involve exertion because I'm so out-of-shape. Forty-five minutes a day cardio on the Sunny Air Walk trainer raises my heart rate, but it isn't exactly a marathon.

Your workouts and healthier food choices have made your weight history so good this year. Good job!

Deb_N, I forgot to mention that sometimes I will have an up day followed by a cheat day (like this weekend) so I don't always restrict my calories to every other day.

You have been doing marvelous, so keep doing it. Just don't overdo it. :)

Deb_N, if you saw how deconditioned I am, you'd be cracking the whip for me to do more. If I don't get back into shape, I'm going to wind up using a walker. Given the choice between running the risk of overdoing it and the walker, I'll take the risk every time.

I am encouraged that my body fat is dropping. Even if the Omron isn't pinpoint accurate, the trend is downward. That means I'm making progress towards getting rid of my metabolic syndrome, which is a killer.

Chris, you sound like me. Doc's threat, lose weight, exercise or have a knee replaced. No contest, just do it!!! Still not in shape but on my way. The weight s gone plus 10 that he told me to lose. Wasn't aware that you have a metabolic syndrome of some sort.

Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of conditions — increased blood pressure, a high blood sugar level, excess body fat around the waist and abnormal cholesterol levels — that occur together, increasing your risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes. Having just one of these conditions doesn't mean you have metabolic syndrome. However, any of these conditions increase your risk of serious disease. If more than one of these conditions occur in combination, your risk is even greater. If you have metabolic syndrome or any of the components of metabolic syndrome, aggressive lifestyle changes can delay or even prevent the development of serious health problems. - Mayo Clinic

Hope you are counteracting that or are so do you have multiple symptoms that indicate that or are you assuming? Just wondering so we can help you better.

I'm counteracting in that I dropped 25 pounds from my high of 174. I'm assuming based on subcutaneous fat (pot belly, paunch), one of the indicators.
