Sob! We don't have blue jays here :' I actually stopped feeding the hummers, because that male spent all its time around the sugar water and I felt it was unhealthy.

Eral, I read that as the cooler weather moves in the hummingbirds become much more territorial. They want to save what they believe is their food for their journey South. I have several hummingbird feeders and sometimes sitting on the deck they whiz by my head so fast I wonder why they don't run into me.

Great pictures Sherry. My balcony is level with a flat roof, so I just throw the seeds there. A large tree overhangs it, so it works well for the birds and the squirrels. Right now I'm seeing mostly mourning doves, but there are cardinals, blue jays, house finches and other birds that visit. I often eat my breakfast there and every once in a while a bird will fly up onto the railing to check me out.
