Yes, that’s why it looks a bit wonky, especially as I skimp on the rice. But I think it is better not to be afraid of trying to make something and be happy if it is good enough! It’s also a great meal for the family (it’s the school holidays) as my daughters can make their own with their own favourite fillings.

(400 cals is for 10 pieces plus kimchi side)

I think they look amazing :)
I wait to see some with strawberry or kiwi. I’ve seen that in a Japanese restaurant back in Portugal and they are really good!

I had avocado for lunch and was shocked how calorific it was. Although I love avocado in sushi rolls, how about Quark instead as a creamy low-calorie substitute?

Paolability, thanks for the tip, I’ve never tried quark, I should. I rarely eat avocado. There was 70g in my share (half a small one) which isn’t too bad and I really enjoyed it. My usual approach is to build foods I like and find satisfying into the plan, rather than substitute. That way it never feels like a ‘diet’. Will try quark though, love a new food!

Pcrav I love the idea of fruit sushi! I will definitely try this sometime. Might need to think if seasoning the rice with sushi vinegar would work. Otherwise I might try to cook it in coconut milk...

I'm going to get hated on for this and I am only trying to help, I just feel obliged as your post appeared.
There is not 400 calories in 10 pieces of that, nowhere near. I'll bet my car on it.
Please don't be another that falls for the 'foods you think are healthy' but are actually horrendous.
Sushi and Granola being at the top

Hi astronomyphilly, totally not going to hate on you, and I know you are trying to help, but what kind of car do you have? You are welcome to look at my journal, it is open. There was 389 calories in my share, all counted. This included 60g of sushi rice (spread thin), 70g avo, 50g tinned tuna and one egg for the omelette as the main cal contributors but the rest were all counted too. I have lost 24kg in the last 7 months by CICO with a focus on satisfying foods. Check out my journal and do let me know about the car 👊🏻😽 Thanks for looking out for us on here though x
