Multiplicity1's Journal, 02 December 2010

I realized tonight that I have nearly lost 80 lbs. now (I think I am at 78 lbs. lost}. I have been down on myself this month because I have struggled with not eating all my veggies all month. A couple of weeks I didn't lose at all because I wasn't following Atkins properly. I need to continue to work on following the program exactly but I also need to give myself credit for the things I do correctly like keeping my carbs under 40 for the day. I have made many mistakes since I have started this program Feb. 8th but I am still committed to it as my permanent life style. I just have to learn how to like more veggie dishes. I will try some new recipes this week. Anyone have any favorite veggie recipes to share?
My new puppy is developing a very bad habit of nipping and I have tried ignoring her which doesn't work because she forgets about me and gets into trouble somewhere else. Who would have thought my puppy would chew on books in the bookshelves? She chews on everything else too no matter how carefully I puppy proof. She always finds something I haven't considered to chew on. Fortunately I watch her every minute so she hasn't been hurt by anything. If anyone has any suggestions about how to stop the nipping I would appreciate it.
My husband had an MRI of his spine last week and they don't have the results yet. His doctor tried to call a doctor at the Mayo Clinic to set up an appt. for my husband but the doctor was on vacation so she will call her next week. So no more news yet. All his symptoms continue.

Your puppy is projecting dominant behavior; and just as significant, the pup is likely getting into stuff destructively because he/she has a lot of pent of energy. How old is your pup? I would recommend viewing puppy training helps on youtube.com... In particular, look up how to teach the "Leave It" command. Furthermore, I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to leash-walk your pup daily - at minimum of 20 min two times a day (if it is a very young pup - more if it's a bit older). Check out proper leash training techniques on Internet, too. Cesar Milan's new book is really good - and will help you learn to overcome pet's dominant behavior, thru proper training (for yourself and the pet). Check out this terrific website - http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/search.htm and particularly focus on the articles on the right side bar. Good stuff! We have a new puppy (got her in August) and we've worked thru much of the behavioral challenges a new pup presents. She is becoming a perfect little lady nowadays and very obedient. Her crazy antics are now a thing of the past - there's hope. (There were days I just thought I'd pull my hair out or have to give her away to someone...) These tools helped me a great deal to be the right kind of "pack leader" my pup needs to be well-adjusted and happy. By the way, I've been thinking 'bout you and keeping your family in prayer since learning about hubby's illnesses a while back. Just wanted you to know how deeply we care and will continue to intercede on his behalf.

Wow - 80 lb in 10 months - give yourself some credit Andrea, that is amazing. I hope you can appreciate how fantastic that is. You really need to update your bio pic so we can see how fantastic you look now, see the changes. Yes, you've made mistakes, haven't we all, but you have learned from them, and moved on and still lost weight. I don't have any suggestions about your puppy but would swear by any technique offered by Cesar Milan - that man is God's gift to dogs. Hope you hear soon about your husband - I know the worry is eating you up. Again, kudos on the weight loss - please enjoy and be proud of yourself for having got this far.

Andrea 78lbs is nothing to sneeze at. I have been trying to lose just 10 and I just can't seem to get the right formula for me yet. I will probably lose next spring as we will be remodeling my husbands old home place. We would like to rent it out for hunters etc. Have a wonderful Friday!!!!

Andrea, I hope your husband gets answers soon. Stress makes it VERY difficult to lose weight (stress releases cortisol, cortisol contributes to fat... something like that, anyway). And please! You've lost nearly 80 lbs!!! How an you knock that! That is an AMAZING accomplishment! And in the face a hundreds of trials. You're amazing, please stop and take a look around and describe what you see. A beautiful woman with a heart of gold, loving and giving, AND who has managed to drop nearly 80 pounds! While not losing her sense of humor or her gift of caring. WE are all proud of you...now it's time to appreciate YOURSELF. (and when are we gonna get a new picture?!)
