Whoolfoodnut, this is the first I've heard of the storm damage. I haven't listened to any news this morning. I am glad you are safe. You are obviously making healthy life choices. Here's a *happy dance* for not having to go back to the doctor for a year.

Scalewatcher, not making the best choices but it is definitely time to get back on track before I keep gaining. It's all over the national news.I know I often don't watch it. Thankful that I have a weather radio and apps on my phone for warnings. I also paid attention to storm safety when I bought my house, I'm in tornado alley and we have been pretty lucky the past few years. I think a goal today is to get my basement bedroom set up so I can move down there to sleep if need be. I have clothes hanging on the bunk bed futon as have been moving seasonal clothes around.

Thanks kclab, am concerned about others that may have been in the paths of the storms both here and other areas. Some of our FS members are facing flood issues along the Missouri, Mississippi, Arkansas and other rivers . The storms are heading east somewhere so anyone in the path of them take care and pay attention to the warnings. They can save lives. I have been too close to several tornados and dealt with the 1993 flooding. No damage to myself or family but many friends.

The storms skirted us. We were on the north-west edge . . . about an inch of rain. I have friends in Jeff City who lost windows, siding and both of their cars to big tree-falls. They and their pets are OK. One thing about belonging to a big organization, like the SCA, they have a crew of at least 50 people who have already volunteered pizza and clean-up help. 😁 I’m glad you’re alright!

SCA?? the renaissance group? Good that they are OK. Glad you are OK. Hope no additional flooding. Dang more storms the next I think 6 days. I'm done with it but no control. ;) I bought my house with Missouri storms in mind so all good. My real estate dealer I think thought I was crazy. I needed space for my 14 foot long quilting machine, a fenced yard for my dog, a nice kitchen, 2 baths and 3 bedrooms (just me) but grandkids invade, west facing windows, garage and a good safe room. Quilting machine space preferably protected in a basement. MMMM. Ok so taking some time this afternoon to boost this depressive forecast and ot work on restoring a vintage sewing machine.

Yes, those storms were ferocious.

Yep . . . medieval history and crafts. Your house requests sound perfectly sound to me. 😁 The quilting machine lives in a huge, studio building at my DILs, along with a 45” needle felting machine, a 60” wet felting machine and various and sundry industrial weight sewing machines. I only have multiple looms and spinning wheels, two regular sewing machines and a treadle machine at my house. 😛 I think we are definitely kindred spirits!

Did not know you have a quilting machine Johanne!! What one? I would love to learn how to weave but one of those things on my long list. Have never worked with felting. I have something like 14 vintage sewing machines some in various stages of restoration and 2 I have not had a chance to even get cleaned up yet. Should be working on one today or something. Being totally lazy today as the air is so heavy.

Johanne, are you OK? I haven't heard of any damage from the tornado in Odessa last night.

I’m sorry I worried you. I haven’t been on the computer today and didn’t see this. The tornado struck about 4 miles south of me
and just 1 mile from my son’s house. Other than nerves from sheltering while the sirens blared, I’m fine. The cats stayed right with me in the bathroom, so they sensed something was wrong. The worst of it was my bottom falling asleep sitting on the toilet seat for so long. 😂

Glad that you and your family are OK. My safe spot is also a small basement bathroom. Not certain I could get my cat in there, she is not one to be carried. Assumed you were probably just busy. We had swirling winds and torrential rain, sirens going off. Hit the basement also but could not coax the dogs to come down, next time will grab a leash. Stay safe my friend in all this crazy weather.
