My annual doctor physical is this Friday. I have lost 24% of my body weight, 58 pounds, and reduced my BMI about 12 points since April 1st.
This appointment is with the same doctor who told me last year I was "too fat and you better lose weight" in a very rude way. He was right - and his direct and brash method actually motivated me; however, my success is a result of finding FatSecret!
Still grateful for:
- The people I love who love me back! - The good health of my loved ones - My FS Buddies who support and encourage me to continue - "Butt-kicking" myself to a smaller size today - My DH - who is my greatest "cheerleader" - My Bengal cat companions named Bodhi and Ravi - My work - which has meaning and worth to other human beings - My connection to the Mother Earth and its entire splendor - My physical health

Omg, I had that same experience! I was even considering switching doctors. I still might lol Yet, I told myself ah, screw him. I really started doing it for myself. Maybe I can throw it up in his face lol Doctors shouldn't be nasty to their patients -- I don't care what their intentions are. I am so glad that you were able to overcome that and turn it into a positive! You are a beautiful lady and you are going to reach all of your goals and then some :) You can rub it in on Fridayyyy ;)

I'm glad you could take that rude ignorant comment and turn it into such a wonderful and positive thing. Way to go

Well I guess you showed him huh?
Glad you could take the sting of the insensitive doctor's words and turn it into great motivation to be a better you. You are doing an amazing job and it will feel good to show the rude doctor, just how determined a person you are. Keep up the great work.:)

Love your character - proven by the fact that you took away something positive from that harsh warning. But this Friday that doctor had better be showering you with "warm fuzzies".

I am sure your doctor will be very impressed with your progress. If he isn't, then he isn't a very nice person nor a good doctor. But let's give him the benefit of the doubt. Yay for fatsecret!

What ever happened to bedside manner? I hope he at least gave you some suggestions on how to lose it, although I don't think most doctors really know what to tell patients. I would not expect warm fuzzies from him this time, that's what we are for. Fuzzy hugs to you!

Right, I expect nothing from the doctor! It is not even likely he will remember me - but he will have to look at the chart and see the weight lost, and do the fasting glucose test again! My numbers should be stellar!
|
yay! my snotty-self would wanna rub it in his face too.

The only one that will notice will probably be the nurse that weighs you in and writes it in your chart. He sounds like a real ignorant SOB. You must give us a full report on this guy's attitude this Friday. YAY for FatSecret buddies! ((BIG HUGS!)))

You know, I am overseas, and every single time I went to the doctor overweight the first words out of their mouth is "Your Obese!". In a way, yes, it made me mad. Then again, they dont have malpractice or other nonsense lawsuits to worry about. Honestly, I almost wish more doctors in the US had the guts to tell us we were overweight. Maybe then they could worry about how to do that properly! Good luck this week.
