Okay, Since the 4th of July, I have fallen off the wagon. It's time to crawl back on it (can anyone give me a boost in the butt?)
So I have not been watching the food, there's been too many barbecue's and get togethers and mayonnaise salads. But the good news is I have still managed to cut way back alcoholic beverages! And I really don't miss them!
So I am looking forward to the end of August, when things cool down a bit here in Northern Michigan, so I can feel like walking again. Last week was a bonanza of exercise: I went kayaking one day and another we rode bike's around Mackinac Island and swimming in Lake Michigan. Just great.
So here's a cheer to the approaching fall and new beginnings!

Yesterday, I was feeling very discouraged and unmotivated. This morning, looking back into my food journal, I realize I should have nothing to feel discouraged about. An average, normal day for me (which means cheating) is approximatley 1600 to 1800 calories. If I were to actually stick to the 1200 calories I had set for myself, I probably would be losing twice as much.
So I tell myself, this is not a "diet" this is changing the way I eat and look at food for the second half of my life. I really want to love food for all it goodness, not love/hate it for it addictiveness.
And so, onward with the journey . . .
P.S., eating a chunck of steak at 8:00 p.m. when you have to go to bed by 9:30 is no longer a good idea, I am still burping the darn thing this a.m.
