I have been trying to lose weight for over 30 years, that's a long time! Of course I have tried all the diets known-Atkins, Weightwatchers, counting carbs etc. None of them have helped me to keep my weight loss. I did juicing for quite a while and lost weight, but it gets very boring after 6 months or so, like reading the same novel over and over so it gradually got put aside.
Now I am trying to change my way of eating by cutting all those things that (I think) are putting the weight on-sugar,starches,various carbs etc. I once tried going without any sugar for 30 days-no cakes,sweets,chocs (my favorite) in fact anything with sugar was avoided. In those 30 days I lost 6 kilos, it occurred to me that sugar was my enemy. So I cut right back on it-after all, who can go without a doughnut or a few chocs now and then?
I have a huge amount of weight to lose at 40 kilos, that's almost a small person!(for those who are used to pounds its 88lbs). Changing the way I eat and what I eat is the clue to me losing weight. At the moment I'm on low carbs and high protein/fats-and I have lost 5 kilos in the last 6 weeks. Yes there have been those days when I shoved cake or chocolate into my mouth but those days have been very few. I used to eat a whole box of chocolates, or 5 Snickers at a time-when I think of those times I realize it was an addiction-anything sweet and I was hooked on it. I want to be able to climb stairs without struggling to breathe when I get to the top, walk without waddling like a duck, run with the grandchildren-I want to be FIT and healthy. I'm not expecting miracles within a few months, my goal is going to be reached within 12 months-that's something I am determined to do.
Life is what you make it, I'm on a mission!!
