Once I finished my fast on Tuesday night and started eating, I went back to a daily 4-hour window for eating (my original thought was to eat every other day, still 4-hour window). Yesterday, I ate again ~6 hours after my eating window which is basically a normal meal at a normal time.

So, the bad news is that my food addictions are still strong and finding more effective ways to deal with them would be advisable.

The good news: my blood glucose (BG) when I woke today was, though quite high, lower that I might normally expect. It would seem that my max BG has maybe been reset to a more healthy level after the 4-day fast.

Today's waking BG gave me hope again. Even if my feeding habits weren't great after the fast, it seems to have resulted in some real and substantial short-term (at least, only been 2.5 days since I ended the fast) effects.

Broke my fast last night (nearly immediately after the deadline ended) with my normal food - a good keto meal to start, then moving into more 'pleasure' oriented (still low carb) fried/spiced protein.

My blood glucose (BG) after 8 hours was only up ~7 points - pretty amazing for me.

However...due to my eating right after the fast I ended up staying awake past sunrise and (not checking my BG again) woke up a bit past midday.

My waking BG was high even though I estimate I ate only 20g carbs, and my liver should have been glycogen depleted after my fast (4 days). Also, I still feel stuffed, like maybe I still have food in my stomach (is this possible?).

My best guess is that my liver kicked into high gluconeogenesis after I ate a large amount (way over the keto budget) of protein and then did a glucose dump as normal toward the end of my sleep - a later BG reading might shed light on this.

Also, the stuff I ate after the keto meal was a kind of low carb fast food, so maybe my body really doesn't feel good with it while still sensitive after the reset of a fast and so that is what is causing the over-full feeling? I probably need a few cycles of fast/refeed to understand this clearly; hopefully I will be able to eat cleanly on my first day after my next fast. Alternatively, shifting out of a normal diurnal cycle caused my body to go into a kind of panic mode, with various carry on effects.
