What the Hell was I thinking?

Well as October winds down, something occurs to me. I will not be able to charge my kids the "Trick 'R Treat Tax". What is the TRT Tax? Quite simply, I always tell the kids that they can hav any candy the get, with the exception of the full size or pumpkin sized Reese's Cups. Those were mine! So, when Halloween was over, I would go through th kid's bags and help them seperate the candy out and collect my tax. Then eat it. One year, Someone must have had them on sale, because the kids collected about 20 of them. That year I only took half, but ate them all that night.

Ten peanut butter cups at one time. No wonder I weighed over 330 lbs! Sad part, that is not the worse thing I have ever eaten. Las year, when my depression was at it's worse, I would make what I called "Devil's Milk" which consisted of:

• One package of Jell-o Devils food instant pudding
• One can of sweetened condensed milk
• two cups of whole milk

I would mix it all together, top with whipped cream and Hershy's Extra Dark chocolate syurp and drink. Often. As just a night time drink. [Oh man it was yummy.] I recentlly figured out that that drink, was indeed milk of the Devil:
- Calories: 2040 (from Fat 414)
- Total Fat 46g (Sat Fat 30g)
- Cholesterol 170mg
- Sodium 2410mg
- Carbs 344g (Sugars 314g)

Not my best decision. But I have come a long way since then and am now half way to my goal! This means that the kid's Reese's cups are safe this year. Well mostly ... I might have to liberate one or two. XD

THE GOOD | THE BAD | THE UGLY

Went to the doctor last week for my 3 month check-up. This is the 3rd doctor I have seen this year due to - issues. I really like this one though. It is my wife's doctor, so she comes highly recommended. This one is also tech savvy. I sent her PDFs of my first two lab reports and got my charts forwarded fro other doctors to her and she already had them in the system like I had them done there. That, was "on the ball"!

THE GOOD
My weight was down 30 lbs since my last recorded weight which put me close to 100 lbs from the first recorded weight on my charts. My A1C was down to 5.2% and my cholesterol was at 188. The doctor was stoked.

THE BAD
I was feeling great and keeping on my path until Tuesday morning. After my workout I was in the shower and the first of what came to be several episodes of severe vertigo accompanied with black-outs of lost time. I would be fine, then all of a sudden I would get extremely dizzy. There would be a ringing in my ears and I would start to see spots. Darkness would them start to creep around the edges of my vision and the world would get, I don't know, kinda of skewed? Then <snap> I would feel better, but be somewhere completely different. If I concentrated I could kinda remember getting from place A to place B, but it was like trying to remember a dream.

THE UGLY
After two days of these episodes, it actually only happened three times, but that was enough, I went to see the doctor this morning. I have been stuck, poked and prodded. Gave enough blood to keep a vampire family happy for days and the doctors still are not sure what the problem is. What they did find was a lot of fluid behind my ears, and that would account for the vertigo, but no so much the missing time. I have an MRI scheduled for Monday to make sure my brain doesn't have any issues, an ultrasound of my for carotid artery to check for blockages there, and several heart tests scheduled for two weeks to make sure I do not have an arrhythmia or anything else. Doctor says I cannot drive until the MRI rules out a brain issues.

There is probably nothing wrong except for severe exhaustion along with a sinus infection. [I worked 18 days in a row without a day off, getting up at 4 AM to hit the gym.] I have slept over 30 of the last 48 hours and feel much better now. Exhaustion will do crazy stuff to you.

Google searches also say I could have been abducted by aliens. That would be kinda cool. If the MRI finds a microchip in my brain I am so going to call the FBI's X files department ... that exists, right?

So that is where I am now. Hope you all have a great weekend, and remember, the truth is out there. [fade to whistling music ]

21 September 2017

Here I am again, waiting for the gym to open. I started doing AM exercising in the spring when it began to get too warm for lunchtime hikes (which ended up being ironic as I made several lunchtime excursions during the heat of Alabama June, July, and August). Back then, however, I was getting up at 6 AM and doing an hour of walking. I was so hard to wake up at 6! As the months progressed, I began getting up earlier and earlier so I could get in more exercise; adding weight training and stair climbing. Now I have my alarm set for 4:30, but over the past few weeks I have been waking up at 4.

No use going back to sleep for 30 minutes, I am now getting here before the gym opens and spending 2 hours working out. If someone told me a year ago, I would be getting up at 4 in the morning and spending 2 hours working out, I would never believed it. Would not think it was even a possibility.

So, anyone who thinks this can't be done, anyone who thinks their weight loss goal is never going to happen, know that if this guy who, a year ago liked to sleep 10-12 hours a night and then play video games can do this, you can too. As Nike says, just do it.

Time to begin 10th straight 5+ mile day. Join me! [Fitbit friend me too!]
