I know some of you like to weigh in every day or two. If that works for you, then by all means do it. However, I also know some of you are not seeing the results you expect and are getting discouraged. Do not despair, because I have determined scales are evil and have a tendency to do more harm than good. I notice a pattern when I weigh. For example, say I lose 10 lbs. [Hooray!] Then I do bi-weekly or weekly weigh-ins, and this is what it looks like..

WEEK 1: OK, last week I was 280, how I am looking this week ... 285?!? WTF!
WEEK 1.5: OK, last weigh-in was an aberration, now let's see what the scales tell me ... 384. How did I only lost 1 measly pound???
WEEK 2: Let see if I gained any this week ... 282. Well that's progress at least.
WEEK 3: Maybe this week I can get back down to where I was a month ago ... 279. About damn time!
WEEK 3.5: Am I still under 280? Yes, 274!
WEEK 4: I am on a roll now ... 271! I rock! I will be under 200 by year's end!
WEEK 5: Time to drop below 260 ... 277?!? What the Hell???

And then the cycle repeats. I am not sure why my body does this, but the jumps in weight are very discouraging. So I now only weigh once a month. Last day of the month and them compare it to the previous month and THAT is what I log.

In the end, the force of gravity on my body in a certain location on a particular Tuesday doesn't matter. That I am constantly moving towards my goal DOES. That my level ground walking speed has increased from 3.0 mph to 4.3 mph is what counts. That I have been able to double the weight on my resistance training matters. That I am wearing 2x shirts for the first time since the 1990s is what matters.

Everything else is just noise.
