Hey hey! It must be new year! I've neglected my body for about 10 months out of the last twelve and here I am again.
I have always maintained the new year is such a bad time to start anew with diets and the like, but then it's traditional.
Anyhow, not as heavy as I thought, so glad to start at this platform.
I would like to wish anyone who reads this a happy new year, and hopefully a great one for the body too! I know there are some users on here who live in nice warm places in January in comparison to here, so to go out for that little jaunt in the park is not as hard as it is here, storm after storm blowing across the British Isles at the moment and here in dublin my park is flooded, so feet always wet. My dog will not believe her luck now, as she has been moping around since gawd knows when.
Anyways, love to you all, and hopefully there will be some progress :)

It's a funny old world isn't it, I am one of those classic dieters who steam in there, go for it for about five weeks or so, and then all of a sudden a bit of illness or something similar and you stop the diet, and so here I am four months after losing 24lbs over about four weeks, and guess what? I am up 24lbs! Back to square one.
I started back at the walking yesterday and will walk again today, all being well I'll have that dip in weight after seven days, not too bad, I felt great after the walk yesterday,and wasn't too slow (16 minute mile) so kind of happy with initial progress.
weighed in yesterday 19.5 stone, not good, kind of kick myself for putting it all back on, but then I enjoyed eating and drinking all that crap too!
I am off on summer holidays end of july, so would like to see a svelter self by then, only one way, sufferation, and abstinence!

Most interesting thing happenned to me today, I am plodding along with my diet, being pretty successful so far, had my usual high fibre breakfast, porridge, bran etc, done mornings walk and work, then lunchtime popped home to fill up again, Had what is called a 'cachumba' salad, which I have had for a few weeks now with some soda or pitta bread. One unusual thing, overdone it on the coriander, and had a second citrus warm water, never done this before, usually have one in the morning. Cachuba salad is cucumber, tomato, red onion, coriander, chilli pepper, lime zest and juice. It is a real aquired taste, and I love it!
pretty soon after I felt drowsy, and went to the loo for a movement, unusually 2nd in the day, and went to bed for an hour, got up felt worse, went to work and wolked around my job, usually I can get in 6-7km in the afternoon with the job, but today I finished and made straight for the local shopping centre, had diarrhorea and vomited, I usually walk about 10m30s a kilometre but today it was 13m30s and struggling big time, now four hours later I feel good, but the energy was sapped out of me big time, I was going for a swim after work but was just not up to it.
I have been told that maybe my carbs are low, and that the body is craving them by switching down, I must admit I haven't really eaten too much and probably are neglecting certain aspects of my dietry needs.
I approached this diet this time(there have been many other unsuccessful times too) with the idea of detoxification after reading a couple of books I have changed radically what i eat, drink, exercise over the last four weeks, have had great weight loss, but today was a real kick in the balls, and I really thought I was going to pass out.

My 2nd week here, I know I've lost a pile of weight, and I know what people say about losing weight too quickly, it's going to go back on as quick etc.
My mother died back in december, and I hit the junk and the beer and soft drinks and my weight went up rapidly, she wasn't buried until a month later, so I had a month of super binging, I suppose through my own sadness and loss. so two days after the funeral, I joined this group, the first week I lost nineteen pounds(I know, way too much, but when you stop eating crap and go to the loo 4-5 times a day, the weight soon rolls out) and now this week 5lbs, a lot more effort for this week though.
If I was to say what has helped e lose weight so far, I have been detoxing religeously, walking around 50 miles a week, reducing my calorific intake from about 2000 calories down to 1500 calories, I have started swimming and intend to swim about 3-4 miles a week, and feeling tight already!
