I have a little comment, not a bad one on the measurement of 'exercise' here on Fatsecret, some of the things that they deem as exercise, cannot surely be used as a reason for burning the calories from our lovely bodies?
For example each day as I log in my daily sufferings, some of the suggested exercises can be 'watching TV' 'sleeping' 'resting'. For instance today I am told that my 1 1/2 hour walk is worth 750 calories of burnt energy, but yet the website automatically adds on sleeping and resting as being constituted into the remainder of the days exercises, though technically, as long as your heart beats you are burning calories, but lying in bed dreaming about being chased beach ball playing fashion around some Hawaiian beach by your dream person, in your dreamy new slim you(which will happen by the way if you work hard at it) can not be constituted as exercise from where I am standing. As is sitting on my computer playing Candy Crush hour on end?
Yes, I understand the principal of burnt energy, but surely is it not when you are out there, off your posterior, heart beating hard, sweat pouring, breath racing, mind focused on finishing, whether it be in the gym, out for a walk with the dog, yoga or whatever, then those burnt calories offset against your intake, surely this is the path to success rather than being in the mindset of "Well I burn 3000 calories sitting on my backside and lying on my back, so I don't need to go for a walk/run" because that is the vibe I'm getting from the exercise section of my daily inputs here on Fatsecret?
Anyway, I hope you are all well today, and greetings from a very cold, very wet, very windy Ireland!
A question I would really like answered also, is how do you get settings on your fat secret exercises page, so you can cancel out the likes of resting etc, because my one won't let me do it.

It always amazes me at the fact that around the world most of us make new year resolution of some shape or form, some of us go far, some burn out after only a few hours.
Just an observation on my behalf, here in the northern hemisphere of this world where I and probably at least fifty percent of this group live start their resolutions in the middle of winter. Now 95% of us are here to try and lose weight and try to become that beach god/ess by the time we go for our summer hols in July(Northern hemisphere) But yet come 1st January we give up loads of foods we are so used to eating year round, and all of a sudden venture out into the freezing cold to try and do exercise we are not used to, putting ourselves at risk of slipping over on wet, icy, muddy ground, let alone catching a chill from the horizontal rain/sleet/snow, the risks are multiple.
Yet come January 1st in the Southern hemisphere, they are in the middle of there summer, on with the shorts and vest, make sure you put on a bit of repellent, and mind not to knock down any of those lovely blossoms in the local park as you so gaily and carefree jog you way to slimness!
Surely wouldn't it be better to make your resolution, and start it around late March, if your in the top half of the planet? Just a thought that has been nagging me today, as I plodded around Dublin, Ireland where the temperature teeters on 0'c, the wind blows hard from the Atlantic with horizontal rain/sleet blowing gale force 7 in my face, turning it to a lobster pink by the time I've finished!! Anyway, greetings from Ireland in January!!

I started today with fatsecret.com just to give it a go. I was really surprised to see that for a man of my height and weight I have an allowance of 3300 calories! I wouldn never eat over about 2000 calories a day, and it would ony be when I'm on holiday that the calories roll up.
These diet websites from my own personal experience will always tell you to eat your calorific allowance, but what do you do when it's never at that level, eat more? Surely not!
Anyway, I had three small but square meals today, a bowl of porridge for breakfast, stew for lunch and a light snack in the evening. As I sit here now, I am full and just about to go to bed, and yet I have had only 700 calories today, I have burned of those calories by exercising for 1 3/4 hours and working today.
I hope to lose over a hundred pounds before May, so watch this space and prepare to be amazed!
