Another new low! Whoop!
My sleep pattern is all out of whack, because I've been getting very tired early in the evening. Last night, I was in bed by 7:30, so of course I'm awake, bright eyed and bushy tailed at 1:30 AM. :P
My sister and brother in law stopped by on their way to Charleston to visit their eldest son, who is working there for 10 days. They asked me to watch their elderly mini-poodle for a couple of days. So I have Wally to walk, and my cats don't know what to think of it all. LOL! Wally is supposedly 'cat friendly', but when my Russian Blue, Twiggy, ventured out yesterday, he got barked at, which made his tail get puffy. Jack, the black one, had a little easier meeting, as he was out of hiding when I came back after walking Wally. I kept him on the leash to make the introduction, and while he growled a bit, didn't bark or lunge. By the evening, Wally and he were sleeping close to me, about 2 feet apart. The cats used to be fine with my dog, but they haven't seen one in over 5 years, so now they're wary of this toothless little old man. Cracks me up!
So yesterday, I was in a frenzied cleaning mode clearing up the place so sis wouldn't think I'm a hoarder. I had understood that they wanted to have a late lunch/early dinner here in town, so I didn't eat. I guess I misunderstood, because after dropping off the dog, they went on to Charleston around 3 PM. I was disappointed, but not really hungry. So I continued my fast, and am in hour 36 right now. I will probably have a protein shake on the way to work this morning, and see how I feel after work.
When I'm strict Keto, hunger just leaves. It's liberating, because I don't have to spend time in the kitchen or thinking about what to make. Maintenance is a lot harder!
Wishing you all a great rest of the week.

I made a stellar dinner last night: deep fried shrimp in a potato starch crust (potato starch acts just like corn starch, but it's keto friendly with lots of fiber, so low net carbs), an artichoke, and a sliced tomato with tarragon mayonnaise. SO good, and I ate every bit of it. The artichoke is a little carby, and pricey to boot, but as a once-in-a-while treat, SO worth it!
Some may remember me referring to a co-worker who tells me I'm getting too skinny, while she herself is morbidly obese...I learned yesterday that she's hospitalized with gallstones and pancreatitis, and will have surgery for the gallstones on Monday. There is a chance that the pancreatitis is actually cancer. :( I'm concerned for her, but I do hope that this serves as a wake up call for her. She's addicted to sugar, and won't even try to break the addiction. I know it's hard. Evidenced by my own wheat struggles, I have every sympathy. But I try, and mostly succeed, to keep it under control. Latest studies have shown that sugar feeds cancer, so maybe this scare will be the thing that pushes her to try to control that beast.
Have a great Sunday, FS buddies!

Potatoes. Rice. English muffins. No, no and NO!
It's not about how much I weigh now, it's about how I *feel*. Out of ketosis, the mind is sluggish, the body aches, and sleep comes slowly. And hunger is constant... Niggling. Oppressive. But it's a fine balancing act to maintain a healthy appetite and getting nutrients, and maintain the loss. I'm a carb addict, no doubt about it. Take me to a bakery, and I will kill for a baguette.
I'm back in ketosis, and happy to learn that my sister (18 months older) is following me in it. The last time we saw each other after 5 years, she, who is 5 inches shorter than me, outweighed me by a good 10 pounds. She told me this week that my loss inspired her to go keto. That, in turn, inspired me to get back to strict keto. She's coming to see me in 2 weeks, and I can't let her down.
I've been spending my free time watching documentaries and lectures on the origins of humans. How we were genetically engineered by the 'gods'...the Anunaki. Google it. :P
I have a cantaloupe in the dehydrator, to share with my co-workers. Fruit is also one of the 'forbidden fruits' on my list. I bought it when I was experimenting with maintenance, and discovered that it raised my insulin response badly. So I'll make candy out of it for others to enjoy.
Time for a cuppa and bed, now. Have a great weekend, friends and followers

Today has been a good day. The client that I hadn't seen in 2 years turned out to be WAY fun. She's a theatrical person, and had done her research. The only other time I saw her was 2 years ago when she asked me to do some work on some wigs for her. Having strong theater connections myself, I've been associated with them since my college days. I was actually the hair designer for the professional theater on Hilton Head Island for 12 years, and worked with a lot of wigs.
ANYway, she was looking for a complete change, from muddy blonde to a more rich auburn color. It took 3 hours to accomplish, but it turned out STUNNING! She looked 10 years younger, and was thrilled with the results. She said I'm her new favorite person. LOL! And her check tripled my pitiful bank account. Lights and internet stay on! W00t w00t!
I didn't go to work until noon, and since I'm a habitual non-breakfast-eater, I went in fasted since 6 PM last night. I really didn't feel hungry all day (hello ketosis!), in spite of the break room table being laden with pizza, sausage rolls, lemon cake, and assorted other sundry sins. I got home around 5, feeling like something the cat dragged in. It sure doesn't take long to get out of working condition! Still not hungry, and the KetoStix showing moderately elevated ketones. If I get peckish later, I have a rotisserie chicken on deck. If not, I'll fast until tomorrow.
To cap off the day, I got a really nice cologne in the mail. Walmart has a program called "Spark Reviewer" that I was invited to join last year. Apparently, because of all the reviews I've written for them over the years, I'm a "top 1000 contributor", which qualified me for the program. Every month, they send me an email with a secret link where I can choose from a couple dozen to several hundred different products. Sometimes, it's a choose one, sometimes it's choose 2. They ship the product for free, and in return I only have to submit a review with a picture of the product. Then I get to keep it! I just LOVE free stuff! This time, my choice was a cologne from Tommy Hilfiger called "The Girl".
My body chemistry is weird. A lot of colognes smell like cat pee on me. This one doesn't! It has all the tones I love: musk, sandalwood, and spice, with just a hint of honeydew. I'm in love with it!
So, yeah. A good day.
I'm hoping all my buddies had at least as good a day!
