Starving self and gaining weight
I would suggest you stay at 1600 cals for at least two weeks and see where you're at on the scale. If you didn't lose, cut 200-300 cals and repeat. If you do lose on 1600, no need to reduce. The amount of meals you eat throughout the day is irrelevant to loss.

You're prolly not eating enough calories. If you're working out as much as you say you are, you could probably almost double your intake and still lose. Also, listen to what Diablo360x said about starvation mode being a myth....he's right.
