*cough* Ahem... is anyone out there? I know I've been MIA for a while, but I'm back in the swing of things and wanting to get back into my routine.

Things got off track at the end of July when I caught the world's worst summer cold. The cough lasted for more than three weeks, and made exercising all but impossible.

Then there were the shoe issues. Which are still ongoing. The new walking shoes that I bought back at the end of May or beginning of June, were already trashed (the insoles were shredded and there were holes in the toes... talk about pissed! I paid $70 for those.) I switched to my shape-ups, which I had for a long while, but rarely used. After one walk, I remembered why I didn't wear them. They fit fine when I'm just standing, but when I walk (with the rocking motion they create) my toes get jammed in the end and they kill! So, I caved and bought another pair of new shoes for walking. They felt great in the store, and I was happy with them until I took one of my usual walks. Blisters! And not just regular blisters, but I actually got a blood blister on one toe.

There's something completely unmotivating about blisters.

I pushed through for a few days, until the pain was unbearable. And then we went on vacation. Just a few days in the Big City to the South, but I only managed one intentional walk the whole time we were away (the hotel we stayed at had a fitness center, but it was only open minimal hours which never coincided when we were actually in the hotel). We did do a LOT of walking while we there, tho, so I think that helped keep things in check while I indulged in a LOT of amazing food.

Last week was just blech. I didn't feel like going out for a walk at all.

Which brings us to today. After more than a week, the blisters had gone down. Until my third lap of the neighbourhood this morning. By the time I finished my walk, the blisters were throbbing and made it hard to even feel inclined to finish my workout (abs & arms, squats). Grr. I'm frustrated.

Yet another pair of shoes just isn't in the budget. But knowing that my feet are going to be in agony less than halfway through my walk is certainly detrimental to my exercise routine.

In terms of weight... well, I hit the 70lb mark a few weeks ago, and then promptly bounced off it. I hung out around 65lb down for most of August, but then thankfully I have managed to creep back down to 70 as of this morning.

My current goal is to be down 75lb by my birthday, but as that's only a week and a half away, I don't think that's likely. Oh well. I haven't hit any of my goals right on when I wanted to. I'm usually a couple of weeks behind.

Well, I'm off to deal with some laundry and do some housework. Gotta get that step count up!
