Working on not giving up. I need to remember how important it is for my health to lose weight. I'm just going to keep trying to be diligent about it. That being said, Dukan is too restrictive, as is Atkins. I think I can manage low calorie for a while, but my biggest issue is that I don't exercise nearly as much as I should. If I were getting my heart rate up I wouldn't struggle quite as much.
So, I guess I need to bite the bullet and work out more.

gaining 6.1 lb a week
15 April 2011
As usual with diets I get very frustrated early on. I have been sticking to it 100% and while I've lost a decent amount right off the bat, I found that my weight stagnated and the scale told me lies this morning. What I mean is that the first time I stepped on I'd gone up to 216. I did it again after showering and it was 215.2. Surprised, I stepped on one more time (5 seconds later) to double check and it was 216.4.
I decided to record the lowest weight. Mostly out of optimism. I think I may need to start only weighing in once a week, but if I don't check every day, I find it harder to hold myself accountable.
I am happy about how capable I've been of sticking to the diet. That part is quiet motivating. That and I walked for 30 minutes last night and the night before.
I walked at 2.5/mph for 30 minutes (1.25 miles) on Wednesday night.
I walked at 2.6/mph for 30 minutes (1.30 miles) on Thursday night.
I'm going to keep up that pace and see if I can get back to jogging soon. I jogged a lot when I weighed less, but its been hard with my body carrying more weight.
I think I'll plan to weight myself every day, but only record it here once a week. That should make the ups and downs a bit less frustrating without taking away my diligence.
The no food after 8pm challenge has been difficult, but rewarding so far. I did most of my snacking after 8pm and stopping that has made me feel motivated. The exercise challenge is about the only reason that I'm exercising right now, so I'm glad I joined it.
Overall, though frustrated, I'm still pretty motivated. I'd say this has been a pretty good start to a diet.
