Week Four of 2016


Plan for 2016
- Smaller goals, starting with 1/2 a pound per month minimum. To be seen
- No less than 2 hours a week for working out. Goal Met!
- Veggies with every dinner. Almost!
- No more than one alcoholic drink (mixed drink or hard cider) per week (may be altered for holidays, can save up the weekly drinks to have multiple at an event). To be seen


...this past week has been a blur, and I honestly don't recall much of what the work week looked like outside of 'busy'. TOM threw off my moods something terrible (crying jags, apathy, depression...).

Had a get together with friends last night where I had 2.5 hard ciders, so no more booze for me until the end of the month if I plan to hit that goal. The veggies w/ dinner is an 'almost' because we did sushi last night, and I don't think the bit of seaweed counts.

End of Week Three of 2016

So this weigh-in is a little bit off because my whole last weekend was off. Typically I weigh-in on Sundays, but we were in PA and NYC visiting family, so I weighed myself the Friday before we headed out. While this wasn't my normal day for weigh-ins, the weekend that followed with both diet and exercise (or lack thereof) was anything but normal. While I tried to be good and mindful of my eating choices, there were some temptations I freely gave into that I could've done without.

I'm counting this as my final weigh-in for January, with my next one (Sunday) kicking off February.

Week Three of 2016

Overall this is the smallest weekly loss seen for 2016 so far, and I'm okay with that. While I hit the minimum of two hours weekly for working out, I was short a day due to family visiting on MLK Day (I usually work out every day after work because there's a gym in the basement of the building). Also, I'm creeping into TOM, so I've been ravenous for all the wrong items the last few days.

The Better Health Committee at work just kicked off their Stairs challenge for February (basically you pledge to take the stairs as often as possible rather than the elevators, and you're allowed to wear jeans for the month). Unless I'm carrying a whole bunch of stuff or running really late, I take the stairs, so woo! Free jeans for meeee :)

I've got another four day workweek coming up, as we're rolling out to see my parents Friday. While it'll be a little bit of a long weekend, its going to be anything but restful. My parents upgraded their appliances, and we're picking up their old ones with a U-Haul, to bring them back to a storage unit by us (six hours west).

Getting better with the veggies at dinner. I've found when I make chicken alfredo, I can make enough pasta for SO, and I use cauliflower florets as a sub for myself. I was concerned earlier this week when we decided on tacos for dinner, but I realized I had frozen corn that I ended up tossing into my taco (helped cut back on the amount of beef I used, so double helpful!). While not the best of veggies, it still counts, haha! And before I start getting suggestions for things like pepper or onions, I'm superbly picky when it comes to veggies. I won't eat salad or most things that go in a salad (so no lettuce, tomatoes, olives, onions, peppers, etc, etc) though the thought is appreciated.

Pleased to see some of my buddies have either come back or are more active on here than they have been recently :D

Week Two of 2016

I know this is a late post, but all the stats listed above are from Monday - Sunday. I'm a little thrown off as I was off of work for the holiday today, and my family came in to visit. I didn't get my normal exercise in today, nor am I going to meet my 10k step goal for today (@ 8PM I've currently got 6,796 for the day). However its back to the daily grind tomorrow (gym time included).

Food today wasn't too bad with the exception of lunch. We went to the Chocolate Martini Bar downtown, and I got a spiked raspberry hot chocolate. Was it on my diet? No way. Do I regret it? No way. I know it was a calorie/sugar hit, but I also know that I've got more acceptable plans foodwise for the rest of the week.

One week into 2016, and I'm feeling pretty good about this.

- Veggies with every dinner. Almost! Fell short by one!
- No more than one alcoholic drink (mixed drink or hard cider) per week (may be altered for holidays i.e. - Saving up the weekly drinks to have multiple at an event). Goal Met! Zero drinks this week!

^This is how I will start every journal for 2016.

First week and I've got a fairly good handle on what I'm going to do. Throughout this past week I took smaller portions for dinner and/or swapped out items entirely for veggies (one night it was broccoli instead of cheesy garlic toast). I read somewhere that a good way to balance your calories through the day was 300 for breakfast, 400 for lunch, 500 for dinner and an optional 150 in snacks. Combined, my normal workday breakfast and lunch is 670 calories, so I've been trying to be more cognizant of my dinner intake than I have been in the past.

Just for giggles I weighed myself everyday after my initial weigh-in for 2016. It was interesting for me as it was after work (when my recorded weigh-ins are always in the morning), and that I typically only check my weight once or twice a week. Basically, it fluctuated the way that most everything I've ever read has said it would, which is within a pound. Neat experiment, but it simply proved I'm not gaining anything by weighing in daily.
