BMI
BMI is a ration between the amount of fat related to your muscular tissue, so no matter how much your weight is you might still have high BMI. The best way is to start working out to increase your muscular tissue in relation to body fat to have optimal BMI.

Plateau
reaching weight plateau is something very normal a certain phase of your weight loss cycle and there are many reasons for than. I would recommend that you do body composition test every 2 or 3 weeks and check your parameters, cause you might be loosing fats but gaining muscles instead and that's explain why u are loosing inches while you weight is still the same.

Believe it or not
I am not sure about the equation that 3 hours of swimming = 1 hour of studying, but I am sure that mental exercises works on burning calories and that's why people lose weight out of stress. the more your brain is working the more calories you are burning to get the energy for this brain to work. Some people also do Yoga for weight loss which involve only mental training.
