I've been neglecting my physical health the last few weeks. So I'm picking myself up, dusting off my health and weight loss goals, and getting back to it. I'm trying to remember that it's not how many times you fall down in meeting personal goals that matters, it's all about how often you get back up.

So I'm having challenges started an exercise program. Part of the problem is that I'm recovering from years of over-work and the resulting exhaustion. I've been off from work (haven't taken any new consulting gigs) for about 2 months now and I'm only now feeling a return of my ability to concentrate. My energy level has been more slow to return to a healthy level. And while my life was insane, my apartment got really cluttered so I don't have space to exercise. I'm pacing myself, am giving myself until Saturday to get organized and make some space to exercise. For now, I'm just being good about keeping my calorie consumption to a level that will allow me to lose weight at about 1 pound per week. That has been doable for now. I'm hoping that being kind to myself and reasonable about my weight loss goals will help me get/stay happy will I'm trying to get more healthy.

Tracking my calories is helping me be more mindful about how I eat. I hope that continues. If it doesn't then I'll try something else. I'm feeling like I can do this slow and steady weight loss and I'm happy about that.

I'm working on a lot right now so it's proving to be a lot to keep up with my fitness goals. For now I'm cutting myself a break and am combining exercise with chores. The challenge is that I need to also stretch as the tightness of my leg and back muscles is causing back problems for me. Today I'm going to try taking stretch breaks between chores and will see how that goes.

I've decided to create a shorter term weight loss goal. While my ideal weight hasn't changed (want to lose a total of 54 lbs), I've decided to set a 30 lb weight loss goal for the end of September because I want to give myself a healthier self as a birthday present. Also I can make that goal is I lose a pound/week which is a rate that I've been able to keep up with in the past. Now if I need to remember to buy a new battery for my scale!
