Periodontal disease really stinks!!! I have a Perio cleaining 4 times a year. I see progress over the years, but having to switch dentists so many times (insureance issues) the hygenist does not see my progress. I thought weight loss would help with making my gum "pockets" smaller, because I would be healthier. It is really a struggle that I have had for years and today I am feeling like I will never get my Perio disease into "maintenance". Ugh! The hygenist is considering sending me for my 3rd deep cleaning. These deep cleaings take 4 hours to complete, split into 2 different appointments, and I had to get a total of 20 numbing shots the last time I had one, oh and did I mention the cost is $1,000 and my insurance only cover 1 per lifetime! I have tried every trick in the book. I would like to work it more, but I will need to stall the hygentists recomendation as long as I can. Is there any advice out there?

Not much going on for me lately. Just getting back into my normal routine. Still at 227 lbs, looking forward to 219! I am excited because today my DH started a healthy diet. Last night we ate out so he could have his "last meal", he chose wings, yum! This way he won't feel deprived starting a new diet. I am excited for him and proud that he is taking on this challange at this time in his life.
My martial arts coach is starting a 21 day diet, and he challanged me to do the 21 day diet also. Honestly it is too restrictive for me...no meat, no bread, no sugars, etc, the only thing that is left is fruits and veggies! But now that I have had time to consider it, it is really a crash diet to jump start weight loss where you give up certain foods. I think I will accept his challange, but I am going to modify it. I will do a 21 day no sweets challange. That is cutting out 1 type of food, not almost everything, lol. And it is something I feel that I can suceed at :o)
