It's a bank holiday here in Spain today - All Saints Day. Today the cemetaries will be full of families visiting their dearly departed. In fact the local police have to direct traffic at the cemetary gates because of traffic congestion. Some even take picnics to eat in the cemetary - it's a really joyous and happy occasion

After my 'experiment' of drinking 2 tablespoons of coconut oil and warm water, my stomach wasn't able to digest it, so up it came. At least my other problem has also been resolved with the oil! So I have lost 1 3/4 lb this morning. I haven't logged the loss as I think it is probably temporary. Time will tell of course, but wouldn't it be great to find that this has finally kicked my metabolism.

Tried this morning to cook eggs and bacon with the coconut oil. I put a teaspoon of oil in the pan and added bacon. I just couldn't hack the smell so I tipped out the oil and cleaned the pan. Restarted cooking the bacon with bacon grease. I love bacon grease, it reminds me of days when we didn't have to worry about saturated fat. We've gone full circle since then!

Have a good Spanish bank holiday everyone!

Lots of food for thought on this diet (pardon the pun).

For example, on our housing estate, the houses on the estate own the roadways so of course each home has to pay for their upkeep. A couple of days ago a family from 'hell' (I am sure you may have met them) moved on. Where their cars had been parked (for months on end) on the roadway, they left huge thick dark oil patches. Amazingly a neighbour cleaned the dark oil with refined cooking oil! It reminded me of when I was a kid, sitting on the side of roadway on a hot summers day, popping tar bubbles from the tarmac. It was great fun and our hands were really filthy - after getting a good telling off from mum, she massaged butter into our tarred hands - this diluted the tar and we were able to wash our hands clean.

In a not so far fetched way - isn't this what we are doing on Atkins. We are using fat to get rid of the stored fat in our bodies.

It all makes a lot of sense now lol.

Next week I have decided to experiment with about 5 g's of almonds everyday to help give me a bit of fibre. Will of course keep the other food I am consuming to 12-15 g of veg carbs. I am sure my total carbs will go above 25 carbs, but maybe under the 20 net carbs the book advises.

It's a journey of experimentation. Have a good Sunday!

Only half a pound down this week (at least this is progress). I am disappointed with my weightloss, it is now 42 days since I started Atkins (I joined FS a few days later) and I've only lost 8 lb so far. My hubby (who started with me) has lost 19 lbs!

I do the research, the cooking, the shopping, he just has to eat his meals. He is also cheating with the odd piece of fruit (I know this is ludicrous saying 'cheating with fruit', but we have to stick to the Atkins science!). As he has lost such a lot in a relatively short time and despite him being more active and 9 inches taller than me, I think it proves we have been 'doing' Atkins correctly.

I am going to print off the carb ladder for John today, as he has only 7 lbs to go and I think he should now be making his own food decisions to climb the ladder.

But... we are not here just to lose the weight, we are here to get fit and healthy. An I feel soooooooo much better than I did last year for example.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
