30 January 2019

Weight is bebopping back down. I know I have some swelling. Everyday has been something and LONG. Yesterday, I met my bestie after work, we tried on bras and I replaced two. We talked about menopause and all the hurdles. We discussed her husbands upcoming surgery and fears. Chatted over coffee; looked at make-up. It really was a much needed time. I was sore but didn’t mind; I know it will happen. We met the husbands for dinner. Calling this (her husbands) last hoorah meal before surgery. We knew he’d want pasta. I had chicken Alfredo fettuccine, BUT had them replace the fettuccine with roasted vegetables. It did have dairy (which I’ve been avoiding), but with the scale moving downward it shows me that dairy within reason does not stall me.

Anyway, after dinner we had just enough time to get back home for the town meeting. That was 8pm when over. I was just getting ready to go upstairs (nearly 9pm) to get ready for bed when our pagers go off for an EMS call. Needless to say it was after 10 when we got to bed and yes I certainly had swelly belly after that long 17+ hour day.

I’m not really complaining as I think I’m rebounding better now from the swelly belly. This week will be the test though since it is something EVERYDAY.

Menopause- I know I’ve said it before but truly the more stressful my day the more brain fog.

I have my 6 week post op today and I’m eager to talk to my doctor and discuss the supplements I’m taking and anything else I can add (like D3 or B12 shot).

So I have come to the conclusion that I will need to find down time this week, to rest and not strain my tummy, as much as possible.

The week started out with a meeting, after work, that went on for 1-1/2 hours. By the time I got home and made dinner I had the swelly belly and was sore....sore enough to take a pain pill. Then I lie awake later than normal.

Today I am meeting a friend after work; I am looking forward to it but it isn't conducive to a restful week. I have to be back home in time for a community meeting tonight

Wednesday is my Pre-Op appt...which I am really looking forward to!! Keeping my fingers crossed for that hot bath.

Thursday is a Fire Dept meeting.

Friday is a surprise birthday party for my BIL (I am in charge of the chicken taco meat) So I will be having a chicken salad for dinner with veggie sides.

Saturday is a silent auction and crab feed (yay for crab feed!).

Sunday is Super Bowl and we are going to a friends and I will be bringing something that is Keto and will keep me honest. :)

Oh boy.....I really do hope I get cleared for that bath!

I passed my NREMT!!! I know it doesn't sound like a big deal, but just let me say that these tests are RIDICULOUS. It is a big deal for me and it means so much to me to have my sister believing in me. I miss our Mom so much, and I don't care what anyone else believes I know she is with us and I see the signs that she leaves for me. However, to have my sister in my corner means more than it ever did before.

So the whoosh that I experienced has been currently reversed...LOL. I can laugh about it because I know the scale is not the be all end all. My 'skinny' pants still fit me just as good as they did last week when I tried them back on. I had things going on this weekend and anticipated it.

Thursday, after work was no rest, it was a drive and the test.
Friday, after work was no rest, it was a trip to a couple of different stores. Then home to cook dinner.
Saturday, was no resting it was an 8 hour mental health first aid class. I will say that I had to take a chair, halfway through, and put my legs up I could feel the strain in the straight back chair.
Sunday, was some light cleaning and then we had a banquet that evening. I did ice a little bit, but not for long.
Monday AM - I am sore this morning...not like last week so I am improving, but still sore. This afternoon I have a meeting at our local care center with a Mobile clinic. Tomorrow, after work, I am meeting a friend for some down time. Wednesday, after work, I have my 6 week post op.

So the menopause. I am using this IOS app Vergo to track so I can have this information to reference and bring to my doctor if necessary. One question it asks is what was stress like. I can tell (from Thursday knowing I was testing and Friday agonizing and waiting for the test results) that stress does effect the brain fog. It makes it 100XXX worse. Seriously, I could barely think. I really hope I am cleared for soaking in a tub on Wednesday. Those really help me!

Whoosh!!! I stepped on the scale four times. The first time because it read 218.8#. Three times afterward it read 217.8#. So I’m going to own the 217.8# with the knowledge there will be fluctuations.

Even with the swelly belly I tried on a pair of skinny jeans (that were too uncomfortable to wear last year) and they pulled on and buttoned comfortably!!! I tried on some "skinny slacks" (referring to them that way because I used to wear them at a lighter weight) and I could get them on! I could button them but the belly....yeah no. I have a favorite pair of spring/summer pants that I am looking to get back into. I also put on a pair of jean capris (that I could not wear last year) and YES could get them on.

So the menopause and the surgery. I am learning that too much right means...too much standing and too much walking. I have to listen to the little twinge and ache and heaviness and be done when it logs its complaint. If I don't I get mucho swelling!!

22 days of Whole 30 Keto Style and I am looking forward to a low carb pizza casserole in February. However, I will add cheese in sparingly and not daily and monitor to see how it effects me.

I have NREMT test today for my EMT certification...so prayers and good vibes are much appreciated!!!
