Weighing in a day early because I plan on having a couple of beers during the Patriots game. New McCourty jersey and my sparkly Patriots shoes are ready to go. (Which is always interesting to wear to a bar in NYC but hey, 12 years in New York can't erase several decades in Massachusetts and I wear them proudly.)

Tooth extraction with just a local anesthetic wasn't so bad last night. Even though my gums are tender in the spot where the tooth used to be, it's nice not to have the pain of a cracked tooth and I'm looking forward to normal food once I heal a bit, including guac and chips maybe during the game on Saturday (Go Pats!). Have decided on an implant instead of a bridge for the replacement, insurance willing. With physical pain gone, I'm going to work on taxes and financial aid forms today. Bring on the mental pain!

Based on quantity of calories consumed versus burned, I expected to lose a pound or two, but maybe the quality of my calories were a problem. Limited to mushy foods because of my cracked tooth (extraction is Tuesday!), I ate a lot of carbs this week.

Well on my way to meeting this week's goals: (1) start tracking calories CHECK; (2) stretch and do sit-ups each morning SO FAR SO GOOD; (3) walk at least 15 minutes/day FOUR DOWN, THREE TO GO; (4)substitute fruit for baked goods CHECK; (5)organize skirts by fit to help track long-term progress ON TODAY'S TO-DO LIST; (6) lose two pounds WILL SEE AT WEIGH-IN ON SUNDAY BUT FEELING POSITIVE

Faced the double challenge of a pre-show dinner and having to eat mushy food by choosing the chili at Bill's Bar and Burgers. Skipped the sour cream and tortillas (good) but shared some fries and milkshake (not so good, but at least I didn't have a whole milkshake myself). Seeing a Broadway show the week after New Years is great since the city has emptied out a bit -- quick trip there and back. plenty of room on the sidewalks, plus no waiting for a table.
