Tried to make decent choices with a birthday meal at the beginning of the week and a day on the road at a cheer competition at the end of the week. Also balanced those days with extra attention to nutrition and exercise on all but one of the days in between. Now we're on to the Super Bowl.

Had a planned cheat on Sunday, and an unplanned binge on Tuesday, so I'll be happy to get back to better eating over the next few days and end the week even. Keeping up with water instead of diet coke (just joined the upcoming drink 2 litres a day challenge) and faithfully walking every day (even if it's just using the stepper inside during bad weather). Increased my sit-ups from six sets of eight to six sets of 10 and added additional stretching on Tuesdays and Thursdays, when I stretch in the evening with daughter #2. She's getting lots of exercise these days -- hopefully she's on track toward a lifetime of good habits. Her current goal is to increase her back flexibility and nail her back handspring, and she's working hard at it. It's been taking her a while but her cheer coach is super supportive, which is a huge boost for her. As those of us on this site know, support from others is so important. Broncos and Panthers fans, enjoy the run-up to Sunday! I still haven't decided who to root for so feel free to make the case why I should root for your team.

Followed my rules reasonably well until today when we stopped at Cheesecake Factory on the way home from daughter #2's cheer competition to celebrate hubby's b-day. Thank goodness b-days only come once a year. Was up at 4:30 this morning to do cheer hair, after being out until about midnight to see "Allegiance" with daughter #1(fantastic show -- see it before it closes on 2/14 if you can!) but still got my exercise in. Proud but tired.

Allowed myself a yummy treat at dinner in midtown last night after daughter #1's most recent college interview. We walked 30 blocks on the way instead of taking the subway, so that helped make up for some of it plus the fresh air felt great.

A better balance among protein, carbs and fat seems to have helped, but I still need to watch my fat intake. Proud to say I stayed disciplined during our snowstorm Disney movie marathon yesterday and only had one serving of multigrain tortillas and salsa plus one cup of skinny pop. And just think of all the calories to burn once we start shoveling today.
