Checking in.

I stopped counting calories a few weeks back and have just been working to eat relatively sanely and healthier. I still ride my bike 4-6 times per week, which helps, typically 5-7 miles a night with days off seeing 15-milers or more.

I am still working toward a more DASH friendly diet. Still no soda, sweet tea, or other sugar drinks. No bread at all. No candy or other obvious sweets except for the occasional taste of my wife's dessert. (She is 5'7" and 120 lbs. Skinny girl!) Limited salt intake. Plenty of protein. Doing well overall with treats and cheats here and there.

The weight is still coming off, but a good bit slower now. I am still looking to hit 260. It was fun to hit 299.9 last week and 299.2 today. I seriously need new cloths. The belt being cinched another notch only makes them look baggy. LOL Onward.

I blame the 15 boneless chicken wings I had last night from Buffalo Wild Wings. I could have eaten 15 more. (We had 98 total for the 5 of us. Only 16 were leftover.) They were delicious. We were celebrating my oldest son graduating from high school and his birthday. We take him off to college today with considerable pride in all that he has accomplished and sadness that our nest has a little more space in it now. My wife has been crying almost every day the last couple of weeks thinking about him leaving. I feel it to the very pit of my stomach, myself. Hard to let the first go, they say. It’s going to be a tough 4-hour drive we will be taking here in a few moments. But I can see the excitement in his eyes for this great adventure he is about to partake in. He has a full basketball scholarship and opportunities to do amazing things. At 6-foot-9 and 240 pounds he is quite a presence. I am hoping that he makes the most of it, and lives life to the fullest these next four years to God’s glory. In the meantime, we will support him in every way we can while enjoying our two younger sons as they build themselves up and prepare for their own future adventures. #thankful
