I have been heavy most of my life. I remember weighing 175 pounds in Jr. High. Most of my life I have been ok with my weight. I certainly wasn't happy with it, of course I wanted to be skinny like all my friends, but I wasen't devistated that I was fat. After all of my babies I got back down to my before baby weight very quickly, even was able to wear my normal jeans home from the hospital. A couple of years ago I did the Adkins diet and Slim in Six exercise program with excellent results. I lost a good chunk of weight in a fairly short amount of time. I felt good about myself, I had more energy, I was even waking up before the alarm went off. But for me Adkins is just to restrictive. There were way to many things that I love to eat that I couldn't with that diet. In fact, most diets don't work for me. I am an extremly picky eater and that makes restricting foods very hard for me.
I am here because I recently stepped on the scale and realized that I weighed 199 pounds. That was a horrible feeling for me. I was close but not even that heavy when I was pregnant. The last year I beleive I have gained about 28 pounds. I don't know how. I don't see to where my eating habits have changed. But regardless of how I need to fix it. My goal weight right now is 150. I think that would be a good goal that I could live with. But after that I truely would love to get down to about 130.
As I said my eating preferences make it very hard to stick with a diet that someone else has set up. I am just restricting my calories to about 1200 a day and making it a point to exercise more. I don't often have a lot of time so right now my main effort is trying to walk on my treadmill 10 minutes a day. I figure that is a good start and as long as I am making an effort I am making progress.
