Yesterday my youngest turned 19 and I've been in Chicago since Thursday to celebrate. She us, a freshman at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. My oldest lives with her family in Oak Park which is a suburb a bit 20 miles outside of Chicago. She attended law school at Northwestern and the rest is history but I got a wonderful son-in-law and grandson out of the deal so I can't complain. Anyway, it's been a challenge to keep on track in a city that has wonderful food oozing out its pores so I got up every morning and hit the hotel gym. My motivation has been my girls noticing my weight loss. Plus they both said I look well rested. I'm curious to check my progress tomorrow when I get in but I made a promise to myself if I have gained I will not get discouraged but carry on. I'm pecking this out on my phone so I hope it's readable.

I decided to start sharing my journal as a means to keep me on tract and have a way to be accountable as I'm a semi empty nester. My youngest child went off to college this past fall however a family emergency required my youngest niece to move in with me.

I joined fatsecret in 2013 and promptly did nothing else but continue to eat and gain. My weight gain started in January 2012 after I had a hysterectomy with complications and continued in 2014 when I quit my job to take care of my terminal mother. All I did for 6 or so months was to look after her, eat and fall asleep on the couch. I gained about 40 additional pound and stepped on the scale one month after my mom's funeral and saw 256.3. OK, that was a wake up call or the next family funeral would be mine.

I'm combining My Fit Foods with salads and low carb/high protein meals I cook on my own. My brother is getting remarried June 20th and for the sake of not ruining any pictures I vow to lose as much as I can. I just want to get out of the 2s by then.

I'm down 28.9 pounds since starting in January. Any tips or suggestions are welcome.
