I decided to start sharing my journal as a means to keep me on tract and have a way to be accountable as I'm a semi empty nester. My youngest child went off to college this past fall however a family emergency required my youngest niece to move in with me.

I joined fatsecret in 2013 and promptly did nothing else but continue to eat and gain. My weight gain started in January 2012 after I had a hysterectomy with complications and continued in 2014 when I quit my job to take care of my terminal mother. All I did for 6 or so months was to look after her, eat and fall asleep on the couch. I gained about 40 additional pound and stepped on the scale one month after my mom's funeral and saw 256.3. OK, that was a wake up call or the next family funeral would be mine.

I'm combining My Fit Foods with salads and low carb/high protein meals I cook on my own. My brother is getting remarried June 20th and for the sake of not ruining any pictures I vow to lose as much as I can. I just want to get out of the 2s by then.

I'm down 28.9 pounds since starting in January. Any tips or suggestions are welcome.

i read your post. First thing i encourage you to do is forget the past and any nutritional sins. It is important to retrain taste buds to love highly nutritious foods. I use Cronometer and track everything I eat. I have learn to get my nutrition first and follow the CRON method of eating. What is CRON??? It is the pathway longevity….Spend a bit of time reading and googling it. Calorie Reduced Optimal Nutrition (CRON)….you manage your food and learn what is MOST nutrition and you SEEK THOSE FOODS like a HEAT SEEKING MISSILE. With time you learn that WHY WOULD i MAKE a bad choice….the calories are empty. It takes time and a bit of energy. I would be more then happy to guide you through the process. All the very BEST….and Remember ALL IS POSSIBLE!!!

Hi Texas mom, I no how you feel I too am an empty nester, live on my own and have gained 35lbs in the last 3 or so years, I am at 160 lbs now but I am only 5 foot 1 inch so now \I look like an Ewok lol I broke both major bones in my left ankle almost 4 yrs ago in a snowmobiling accident and now sport a plate and 8 screws on the out side of my ankle...ever since then I just fell out of my routine. I use to love to work out, but have found it difficult to commit and some of that is because I tend to go out with the girls and drink way too much then I feel like hell for the next 4 days, any way I have done the low carb high protein diets and they worked BUT I did gain it all back and more. I started Body Beast through Beach Body today I have 89 more days to go. One of my daughters is getting married in Sept and I too don't want to ruin the pictures. I have started to eat clean and basically just count calories....calories in...calories out...my goal is to stay focus stay away from the alcohol and commit to me again. I did it before with Body for Life.. I will do it again with Beach bodys - Body Beast only this time I am 10 to 11 yrs older. I hope I have decided whats and who is important...I wish you the best! You can do this!! I get my works out over in the early morning, its the very first thing I do or use to do BUT doing again, that way its done!! The beginnings suck because you hurt a bit but this too shall pass.......Kelly C
