I have sort of been through a bunch. Quit smoking. It was a good thing, but I put on weight. Was able to get some of it off but not enough. Then my husband got Altzheimer's/dementia and man, I about did not make it. Bad and awful is putting it mildly. The man was an angel and turned into a Forest Gump who loved sports. Knew everything about sports but could not say his name and could not really feed himself. We made promises that neither of us would go to a facility and I kept it. Still miss him. During this journey, I turn up with breast cancer. Knock on wood I found great doctors at MD Anderson Cancer Center and I did not need to do chemotherapy, no mastectomy (just lumpectomy) no massive removal of lymph nodes and two weeks of radiation for about 5 minutes each session. I've been cancer free for two years now. I take anastrozole so it doesn't come back. Okay. I got the easy part. Then on July 18, 2019, my husband died. That was the worst of it all. Felt like I got punched in the stomach. My brother had come to help out with my husband and he cooked a lot of stuff and I ate... and ate.

Later on, I tried to lose weight with exercise, Jenny Craig, etc. and a couple of pounds would come off then nothing. When I really decided to do something is when I got on the scale to see what I weighed and I was around 220 lbs . I never weighed that much.

I decided to see a doctor about it. I am not playing around with this. My whole family is slim and now the weight gain is causing me health issues, i.e. pre-diabetes, etc. The doctor did an extensive bloodwork up and found my glucose levels were way too high, cholesterol levels were high and I was Vitamin D deficient. The doctor prescribed some medication for me: (phentermine, topomirate and metformin) The phentermine cuts the amount you want to eat, the topomirate cuts cravings, Metformin works on getting the blood sugar levels under control so this doesn't turn into diabetes.
I have a prescriptio
