I am by no means new to dieting. About 8 years ago I joined Dr. Bernstein and lost 110lbs. Afterwards I had a tummy tuck and felt amazing. I kept the weight off for almost 5 years. Then I got sick and was off work for 2 years while we tested out a smorgasbord of medications (all of which contributed to weight gain) With one medication, I gained 80 lbs in 4 months. It was devastating to say the least Over that 2 year period I gained back every pound I lost. Over the last year I added on another 30 lbs.
In March, I finally had enough, after going to donate blood and being turned away because my blood pressure was through the roof, almost to the point where they were going to call the ambulance to take me to the hospital. I had kidded myself because I had always looked healthy on paper. My cholesterol was always perfect, my blood pressure too....every test came back perfect. Now at 280 lbs I had a lot of work to do.
I really am new to dieting without that medical help of a program like Dr. Bernstein but I have to say that, I give myself one day a week off....I have that pasta with creamy sauce, or bread or things like a cookie or dessert. Sometimes I even have them all in one meal....lol...but it seems to be working for me. I only just started my weight loss journey on March 12 at 280lbs and today I weigh 244lbs. I am not sure why this works, but it keeps me from veering of course the other 6 days an I find it easier to get back on track knowing that this was my day to have what I wanted than the guilt I would have felt with cheating.
