Haven't weighed in for a bit, and frankly afraid to step on the scale. We've been doing massive renovations on the house - including the kitchen - so pizza and burgers have been the order of the day. I worked my butt off at the Folk Fest last weekend, but they also feed you very well, so I'm not sure the zillion miles I walked made a difference. Eek. Ah well, I'm not going near the scale tonight, it's too late and I'm too tired to deal with it, but one of the things this group does for me is hold me accountable - if only in my own head ;-) - so I will weigh in tomorrow and face the music. I doubt it will be a victory march, but I'm hoping it's not a requiem! Have a great night all.

So I got my AC1 results (I hope I'm remembering that correctly!) and my doc/diabetes nurse were amazed - in 5 months, I've got it down to 5.9 by dropping 35 lbs. I'm still (and always will be) diabetic, but as my nurse told me - "You have this SO under control that we're not even going to think about medication". I'm so pleased with this - the diagnosis was very much a wake up call, but caught early enough to be a gentle rain on the window kind of wake up, not a SLAP IN THE HEAD WITH A FROZEN FISH kind of wake up (which is most DEFINITELY what it usually takes for me to pay attention!) So YAY, I don't have to go pee in a cup or get vampired for another 6 months, by which time my total weight loss should be much greater. SO pleased with this :-) YAY!!! Thanks for reading, have a great day!

Loves me my green arrows. At this rate, it's going to take a long time to get to goal, but actually, I'm okay with that. This is a lifestyle change for me, not a fad - and since the motivation for this one is health, not vanity, I'm completely fine with seeing the scale inch down, little by little. Today I go to the doc's to get the lab results and see how my sugars are, I anticipate positive news (and will be SOME annoyed if it's not forthcoming!) This weekend is another music festival, but this one is hard work and long hours (plus the requisite 3x daily bowls of grains with some sort of unrecognizable ethnic vegetable sticking out of it) so it's generally a game of musical bootcamp and What Is This Crap? dieting :-) On top of that, I have major renovations going on in my house, so the next two weeks will be a series of Pick That Thing Up. What Is This Thing? Do I Need This Thing? WTF even IS This Thing? Throw This Thing Out. The trips back and forth to the garbage bin should burn a few calories, not to mention crawling back IN to the garbage bin when I eventually figure out What That Thing Is and that Yes I Really Do Need That Thing, Bring That Thing Back In. Anyway, I hope everyone has a beautiful week, and thanks for listening to/reading my incessant, senseless ramblings!

All the walking at the music festival obviously trumped the cheesecake on a stick I ate (yeah, that's a thing...a DELICIOUS thing!). Logged 9, 10 and 12 km on the three days of the festival and had a hippie BLAST :-) There's another one coming up - the Edmonton Folk Music Festival - and that's mine, I volunteer at that one, so the work is hard, the hours are long, and again...way too much fun. The bonus at THAT one is that there is not much time to eat! After this week, I'll be on holiday, so I'll have to be very careful - planning, as always, is the key. Yay green arrows!!!

Slow but steady. I fancied myself a hare, but turns out, I'm a tortoise...which is FINE by me, they're practically immortal! Like VAMPIRES! ;-) Have a beautiful weekend, everyone, I'm off to the Calgary Folk Music Festival, where I will be eating vegetarian with the hippies and spending four days walking around outside or listening to music with my tribe. I'll be totally blissed out when I get back - and I doubt I'll be able to log my food effectively, most of the stuff they serve at these festivals is completely unrecognizable to me. The best I'll be able to do is "2 cups of some kind of grains with a bunch of vegetables sticking out of it", and I doubt even the FS database has a calorie count for that ;-) Peace OUT, brothers and sisters!!!
