Ah, the Christmas Crash! I seriously know no limits when it comes to holiday cheer; but this year, I'm kicking off a new year a few days early--and getting a jump-start on 2008.

I recently got back in the gym and had been feeling pretty hot, but of course that all ended with the arrival of the holidays and the nonstop feasting and champagne and wine and excessive baking and sweets.

But at least I can admit: I've been nurturing a bipolar relationship with my state: when I'm rigid with my eating habits, pack my social calendar, and thus fitting (loosely) into my wardrobe, I feel this incredible sense of control and... wait for it... incredible happiness! Svelteness = bliss. It just does. But almost as soon as i hit that peak, something sets off an unfortunate cycle (and ironically, I still comfort myself with healthy food, but just too much of it, like three too many handfuls of roasted almonds or slice upon slice of toast piled high with sliced turkey too too much lowfat cheese or a huge bowl of five-grain cereal with more nuts and berries and serious pools of maple syrup).

So dammit, I'm determined to get back on track. I have an addictive personality as it is, so I just. need. to. get back into a crazy workout schedule, and regimented meal plan, both of which will satiate my inborn, ravenous appetite. I want to lose a sliver of weight, yes, but mostly tone up and feel strong, healthy, and slim.

PS: It's 1:30 am and my head is pounding from too much leftover butternut squash, chocolate bonbons, and homemade sugar cookies. I can't sleep. I'm actually almost hungry, again! I try to remind myself that I hate this feeling, but the allure of tasty nibbles somehow overpowers the realization. So this is my own personal reminder of the lethargy and the yucky-feeling consequences. Fourteen pounds might prove a bit ambitious, but I need a good challenge!
