I'm a yo-yo dieter. I was overweight from about 3rd grade through high school when I lost 30 pounds in 7 months (dropping from 180 to 150). I was young and had a high metabolism so I didn't need to consciously exercise; playing floor hockey, and drinking a slim-fast powder shake twice a day and then eating whatever else I wanted was enough to help me lose weight. I keep the weight off for about three years until I went on Zoloft for anxiety disorder and besides sleeping up to 18 hours I day, my weight climbed eventually peaked at 215.

I stayed that way until about age 30 when my doctor checked my total cholesterol and it was above 200. At the time I watched and was inspired by Discovery Health's Body Challenge first season. I saw one contestant, Dean, using the diet software Diet Power.I bought a copy and followed its instruction faithfully; I ended up losing 30 pounds in 4 months (190 to 160 pounds), following the software recommendations and burning about 250 calories 5 days a week on and exercise bike.
I kept that weight off a little over a year and then went in for surgery which put me on my back for eight weeks. I broke my diet and when I was able to walk again I went from 145 to 168. I then added to that by ignoring my diet and concentrating on work/college which brought me as high as 210 pounds. At my last cholesterol check over a year ago my total score was 226.

My goal is to be down to 160 by late September and then eventually back down to the lean 145 in my bio photo.

cramping
Although I don't know you complete history. I suggest seeing a doctor as leg cramps may be a sign of a blood clot. If a clot gets into your lungs, it will most likely kill you.

I'm not a doctor, but I have had my lower right leg operated on three times (which can cause clots). At the very least I would do a symptom check on WebMD, or look up the symptoms of Pulmonary Embolism to see if they match what you're feeling.

I've known three people who've died from a Pulmanary Embolism, two of them were only in their 30's.

I'm not trying to scare you, but by your posts on the subject, you seem to be doing everything right to prevent activity related cramping, so I'm guessing it may be something else.

Good Luck.
