Life is all about looking for the silver lining around a grey cloud right? After a very stressful weekend.. My son's 4 fish died suddenly and then he refused to take a bath because of the fear that the water would kill him too- mind you he's 3 and there is no arguing with him, plus a winter storm that kept us snowed in and him begging for an ice-cream sundae party following the taco party we just had while camping out on the living room floor so we could watch his favorite movies (hard wood floors are hard on the behind!)I was fully expecting to see a major set back when I stepped on the scale this morning. But nope! Not a change at all! I could have done the happy dance for another minute but refrained because the little guy was still sound asleep and let's be real- a morning cup of coffee and shower without interruptions is very very rare.
After I got him dropped off at his dad's (which went smoothly for once) I headed into work, popped open my email only to find that the noon-time Zumba class which has become a ritual for Monday's was cancelled. So instead of skipping the gym altogether I decided what the heck- it's been a while since I've done just straight on running. Hopped on the treadmill and set the speed a little higher than I normally would have and off I went with my tunes blasting in my ears. 40 minutes later and I've realized that I accomplished something today that I haven't been able to do in over 10 years. I ran 4 miles without stopping in 39 minutes and 14 seconds. Two months ago I was lucky to get to 2 miles. Today I doubled it! Here's to a great start to the week!
