So yesterday I took the day off of work to take my son to go see Paw Patrol Live on stage. I knew it was going to be a fun day but also a challenge as I was taking both my mom and my grandmother with us. Day started off with a temper tantrum, spilled coffee, and a winter weather advisory- should have read the signs. Went to get gas and already the headache from the repetitive Frozen sound track and the 3 year old "singing" in the back seat was forming so I swung into McDonalds for coffee.
Positive step of the day- black coffee instead of cream and sugar added.
Get through about 300 screaming toddlers and their parents and puppet dogs hunting for pirate treasure with only a few bites of my son's popcorn. Still a win judging by the smile on the little guys face through the whole show- even tho the headache had increased slightly. Then as we are walking about to the car my grandmother says she wants Olive Garden and everyone else got excited. For me anxiety kicked in. I hadn't planned ahead... previewed the menu... didn't know what healthy options were available. Got there and decided to relax and enjoy lunch- ordered spaghetti and meatballs and a box. I managed to pack half of it away before I even took a bite. So while I went over my target calorie intake yesterday and the disappointment I felt with 2 extra pounds on the scale this morning- I had to take a step back and realize that hey wait.. that's probably salt/water retention and even tho there were two extra pounds it was fun and worth it and will buckle down and they'll go back away. Here is to not crying over spilled milk!

I have to admit, in the 3 months since I've started this journey, this past week was the first time I've truly been disappointed in myself for "falling off the wagon". Didn't meal prep like I normally do, took my son out for breakfast on our mini-vacation day, and had a diet coke or two with some potato chips. But even as disappointed in myself I was yesterday, I made myself sit down and look at the positives. With taking a vacation day I still made it to the gym 3 days last week, when we went out to breakfast I ordered an egg white omelet with turkey sausage and cheese and opted for the bowl of fruit instead of a muffin or toast, and in the long weekend- we went outside sledding for all 3 days at about 2 hours at a time- which never happened in years past. So as I began to look at all of this, that disappointment slowly went away and was replaced with a more positive line of thought and determination to do much better this week!
Plus as I was walking up the stairs into work this morning my co-worker and friend told me I needed to go buy new pants because she said mine look like they're about ready to fall right off and helped me locate a safety pin to keep them on all day!
