Getting back on track. Had jury duty last week so I did not get my long (5 mile) walk in each day. That is over now, so starting to get the exercise again. I have a medical test coming up next week that will require a special diet for a few days, but that really should not impact my weight. Overall, I am glad to get back to trying to take care of me.

A little back sliding the past couple of weeks. Story of my like I guess. I have been under the weather with a cold and must admit that when I have a cold, I cannot get enough to eat. I crave all the good stuff (fruits, veggies, egg white omelets, etc.) plus all the junk food imaginable. I will not beat myself up. I will just improve my eating habits.

Days after my original/first journal entry, my husband was diagnosed with AML (leukemia). With his health failing, life and diet and exercise was a gigantic rollercoaster ride. While I have tried to eat sensibly for the past two years, I have not closely followed the Ultrmetabolism diet. I have been mostly eating a high protein, low fat diet with lots of veggies and fruit. I am currently trying to get back to taking care of myself. And, I am continuing to eat healthy. I have a couple of dogs to accompany me on my five mile walk each day. Perhaps this year I will be able to shed the rest of my excess poundage, but if it takes longer that is okay too.

It has been a while since I did any journaling. Time to get back to it and to being accountable for my dietary habits. And, maybe writing about my stress will alleviate some of the stress. So, I am going to try the Ultrametabolism diet. I love raw veggies and fruits so I that part will be good. I love whole grains, so that will be good. I will have to give up my glass of wine for a while, but that is OK. The harder thing to give up will be the margaritas on Saturday nights when my husband and I go to our favorite Mex restaurant. I think this week I will probably have one, but after that, . . . . I'll see.
The thing that will make changing some of my dietary habits more difficult will be my husband. He has cancer and is having trouble keeping weight on. I love a challenge.
Tomorrow morning I will begin the journey. I am ready.
