I guess it’s about time I filled this out…

A single (divorced) dad type in the very early 50’s raising two kids (well done with one actually). One in college, one soon to be high schooler. I have always been a fat guy, and athletic fat guy, but a fat guy nonetheless. I have fought the weight battle for many years learning from the successes and learning more from the failures.

Came here as I started my latest effort after falling down hard due to allowing life BS to overwhelm me over the last 4-5 years. But taking the lessons learned there and moving forward again with lifestyle changes that can be sustained even through the darkest times mentally (cuz ya know they are going to happen, life is a <bleep> like that).

I’m a biker, many varieties of nerd, OG geek, work-o-holic, dad, introvert, low key gammer, bookworm, aging adrenaline junky, and a thousand other things who’s basic approach to life can be summed up in one quote… “Fall down seven times… Stand up eight”

Trying not to be addicted to scale watching
Perfect plan to put away the scale. It is not your friend and does not tell the tale of effort and progress very well. Weight flexes up and down (in the range of 2 + or _ pounds) through the day for any combination of a bazillon reasons. So weighing multiple times a day.. even everyday.. really accomplishes nothing by sowing confusion. That being said, I do weigh daily.. at the same approximate time under the same approximate conditions. I do this to simply keep track of trends and use those emerging trends, tweak my plan in small way. The I do record new 'lows' as they show up but ignoring flexes up unless they continue over multiple days in a row. So ignore that scale and celebrate that 4lb loss. You should be damn proud of that. Weighing once a week is just fine and keep up the outstanding effort!
