Hello All,
I am 32 years old, married, have two dogs, no kids yet and live on the coast of California. I have always been the "heavy" one in my family. My dad was heavy when he was a kid, but thanks to an active late teens/early twenties he burned most of that off and slimmed down. Even though I take after his side of the family more in features and health, I have never really been fond of sports and preferred other things such as reading and writing which don't burn many calories. So I never really thinned down, just maintained what I already had going.
Since then I've had long periods where if my weight went up it did so only did so in less than five pound increment and then would remain that way for over five years. Even switching from retail three years ago - being on my feet constantly- to a sedentary job at a desk my weight didn't go up drastically. However this last year I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and was placed on prednisone for pain. This added at least 10 pounds to my already overweight frame and made fat collect on my stomach where it had never really collected much before. I am now off prednisone but am struggling to lose the weight that I've gained because of it. So here I am ready to try to tackle this! Here's to the start of a new journey!
