This week has been not so great for the diet or exercise.

Diet wise: 3 non low carb meals (eating out), one that couldn't be avoided and two that could have if I'd just said "I'm on a diet", which I think I'm going to have to learn to tell people so we can pick places that have things like chicken salad on the menu. They took me to a pastry shop for breakfast...torture. Strange thing is that I gave in, but the pastry wasn't as divine as I'd remembered them being. Maybe I'm over bread and sweets?
Exercise: I've been trapped behind my desk this week with my fingers almost glued to a keyboard, I didn't even leave my condo other than to go right around the corner to those two meetings because I've been consumed by a deadline I didn't realize I even had until Monday morning when I was called and told. UHG.

My phone reminded me to weigh in a day early to avoid the stressy-freakout about tomorrow, but honestly I'm so distracted I'm not sure I would have even noticed. Thankfully, I'm almost done (99% of the way there) and with a 10am Friday morning deadline, I'll be good to go to physical therapy later in the day. Glad to have any loss at all this week.

Blech. So tonights dinner was not low carb or healthy, at all. I'd eaten a reasonable (and tasty) breakfast, I'd had a protein bar after my work out, and all was well with the world. Then my husband calls to tell me that his new boss wants to take us out. I'm thinking okay, I can just stick to a chicken salad or some such. Wrong. So wrong. It was a Thai place and the boss insisted we all try his favorite dish, fried egg noodles is sesame sauce with beef and veggies. He just ordered it without asking and I felt really uncomfortable saying "I'm on a diet", so I just kept my trap shut. I downed three glasses of water before the food reached the table, and I managed to eat a smaller portion, but even so I'm adding nearly 1,000 calories to the journal to be on the safe side. Probably not even enough. Gah.

I'm still below 1700 total calories for the day, and I insisted we walk all the way home to get extra walking time in (currently icing my screaming knee), but uhg. I'm already getting a headache and, even though there's no way I could possibly be hungry, my brain is telling me to eat. My carb tolerance is crap. My husband suggested we get icecream on the way home - 1200 more calories for a pint of ben & jerry's (if I remember right). I put my foot down and said no. 2200 extra calories to burn in a week for a single night? No thanks.

Thank you, everyone that commented on my pre-weigh in day stress out/freak out post. I'm going to be weighing in a little more frequently and recording it to try and take some of the stress off. If that doesn't work, I'll swap to weighing in once every few weeks...just play with it until it works again. Thanks for all the support :)

Today:

Okay, so I must be having a fluctuation down day or something. All this week when I hopped on the scales I got between 0.75 and 1.5lbs each time. Now, today, a 3.1lb loss. I'm guessing some of that is not "real" and next week I'll end up with a smaller loss as a result to even things out. I'm going to try not to be quite so negative now, and enjoy the loss.

Sidenote:

My dog loves this diet. I'm not a big fan of chicken skin, so whenever I have roast chicken he gets a few bites of chicken skin mixed in with his usual food (he's a small dog so a few bites go a long way).
