Healthy Alternatives
Definitely working with him. He has other issues, but he is trying, and that means a ton. I think you are right. Once I started tracking my in-take of calories, and I am not really in a horrible spot, I realized how quickly things can get away from me.
We will get him on track and I think he needs a journal.

Healthy Alternatives
I am a Marine--have been for damn near 20 years. I am in decent shape, but as I have grown older and left the ways of child behind me, specifically the metabolism of a child behind me, I have found that merely working out does not sustain me eating whatever the hell I want.
Things have a funny way of creeping up on us like Trojans in a the belly of horse, and by the time we acknowledge their presence, they are raping and pillaging our lives, or in this case our bodies. That being said, I am huge on healthy alternatives, and preach about them regularly.
I have a Marine who works for me here. He is struggling with weight issues, and I had a long talk about healthy alternatives to snacking. At some point he latched onto fruit being one of these. So, over the course of three hours he ate 11 servings of raisins, or an entire 15 ounce box. That is 300g of sugar, about 1400 calories, and a whole lot of gut problems...
When the healthy alternative goes wrong...

I will not find it. I will continue to eat these magical things. I like your method to consuming the Thin Mint, one of the best cookies ever developed, by the way.
Here is another thing, I don't care what they put in them either, because it is a little piece of heaven in there--evil heaven, but heaven all the same!

Girl Scout Cookies
I am on an all out war against eating these. It is a sad war indeed, because it is like waging war on people you love. Sweet, chocolate, delicious, little treats that you love. How can something as sweet as a Girl Scout produce something as evil as these cookies.
