51 years old. I'm an RN no longer in hospital nursing. I'm a former inline skater and racquetball player, and did not have to worry about what I ate. Then I left nursing (and the 5 miles a day I had to walk to do my job) and took a sit-down job. 40 pounds later, here I am. If it weren't for my little Brittany Spaniel, I'm sure it would be 80 pounds!

I did WW for about 9 months and did well (lost 18 pounds). I stopped going and gained 8 of it back.

Then I saw the JUDDD diet, and I actually got excited. I believe that this will work as a lifetime eating pattern. If anybody is interested, contact me!

A dog in your life can make fitness a necessity, not a luxury
If I didn't have my dog, I'd be 400 pounds. Well, maybe not 400, but much more than I am now. I seem to be responsible about everybody and everything but myself sometimes, and neglect my health. But my dog gets me around that mental defect. It is hard to walk behind a dog who is having the time of his life (any walk for him is always the best!) and not smile.

Tiredness
YES! I feel really good on the alternate day diet, and even though it is really hot here in Florida in August, I find that I am motivated to walk at least once a day. In the book, "The Alternate Day Diet" Dr. Johnson talks about people feeling 'energized' 'like being in love' etc etc. I did not really believe it, but I hoped...and I'm telling you, it is the truth. Not trying to sell you on my diet, but when I read Dr. Johnson's book, "the alternate day diet", sentences like "people who are overweight tend & have tried numerous diets and failed envision the future as an endless horizon of hunger & deprivation" really hit home. but he says the up days (days when you eat what you want) are the insurance that 'no matter what you are feeling today, you can eat tomorrow'. I'll tell you Irishbride, I can't really call it 'wired', but it is for real.

Up day Down day diet
Hi everyone, I've never been a binge-purge dieter, and contrary to what I've heard people say the alternate day diet (or JUDDD - Johnson Up Day Down Day Diet)is NOT binging and purging. I've talked to my pharmacist, who is very knowledgable regarding nutrition at the bio-chemical level, and even he is excited about this diet.
I don't feel hungry on this diet (I eat when I am bored or nervous)and every other day I eat what I want. I can't stress enought that after 2 weeks, I feel so different (better) than I have in the last ten years. My problem with diets is I continuelly find myself saying "I shouldn't eat this" or rather "I shouldn't have eaten that". Guilt. And the thought of never being able to eat 2 pieces of pizza, or go to Cold Stone Creamery and have a cone, would fill me with anxiety.
Now I find it no problem to diet one day, and I know I can eat regularly the next. So for people that is important to, this is the diet. And your body never gets the message that food has been cut back (my pharmacist tells me) so my metabolism doesn't slow down. Follow my weight, dress size, state of mind through my posts. Contact me if you want more information; I noticed that not many people are using this system, or that there is fear that it is just glorified binging-purging. Good luck & good health to all of you, I wish you success reaching your goals.
