I am SO excited. I celebrated my niece's birthday over the weekend and made a "healthy" version of Chocolate Cake. It was very satisfying and I feel like I found a way to participate and enjoy sweets without wreaking my new healthier way of eating.

We also celebrated Easter as I am sure most of us did. I made side dishes that kept in mind my new mantra ..."healthy, tasty" ... "healthy, tasty". Everyone enjoyed dinner and was quite pleased with the dinner options. No one really knew I made the effort for "healthier".

The BONUS ... I went to the gym sunday morning for a "quick" workout and weigh in. YES! I have lost 4 more pounds. I am so geeked about the weight loss and eating better. It is time consuming, and takes effort, but each day it gets just a tad bit easier to figure our meals and snacks. Plus I picked up a new cookbook for even more options.

Good Luck Everyone ... I am proud of us all.

It has been two weeks since I decided I have had enough. I hvae tried and marginally succeeded at weight loss in the past, however, it ALWAYS comes back.

So, now I am DONE. I started out by revamping my "diet". I have tried popular diets, fads and medical programs in the past; and while they have a time and place for minimal weight loss, I don't think they are for fit for the long haul. So, here I am, starting over AGAIN. Only this time, I am taking additional steps so I might be "successful".

Two weeks ago I bought fruit and veggies, passed up the carb heavy choices and snagged fish, ground turkey and chicken in lieu of pork, chicken and beef. I went back to the gym and got in a couple workouts when I decided I needed more accountability and the chance to do things "right" this time. I worked out with a Personal Trainer and after the first workout thought, Holy Cow, what am I thinking. But I know what I am thinking, I am thinking I want to be healthier, I want to lose weight and I want to shop in a regular store. So, I bought more sessions with my trainer, and I continue to make "good" food choices, eating 3-6 times per day. I always start my day with breakfast and have 1-3 snacks a day now. Keeping the metabolism pumping, not waiting until I am starving to eat, and the most important choosing foods that are good for me!

I am a diabetic with a mutlitude of other health issues, and I am sick to death of the meds I NEED to take to keep myself alive. Maybe, just maybe, lossing weight will help with my health issues.

I am pleased to annouce that when I weighed in yesterday that I have lost 6.1 pounds since I started my journey two weeks ago. I am on a mission to lose almost 85 pounds, but I don't just want to lose the weight, I want to tone and shape and look and fel better. So while I am on my journey, embarking on making myself a healthier version of myself, I realize I may not reach that "ideal" weight, because I have chosen to not just do cardio, but muscle work to tone and shape and I KNOW muscle weighs more than fat. But I also know muscle burns fat. So I do weights to build muscle to burn fat to lose fat. It is a vicios cycle, but one that works nonetheless and no magic product is going to "fix" us from our dieting, health, bad food choices we have made in the past. Only we can make the changes, to change our selves.

I wish you all luck on this incredible journey.
