I have been staying on the plan really well and I have surprisingly not felt really really hungry, which is unusual, given the small amount of food I have actually consumed.

Since last Monday, I have lost 3 pounds and that is about 50% better than my weekly goal of 2 pounds. On Saturday, we had a 50th Wedding Anniversary party for Ginger and Charlie in my building and we had a lot of fattening stuff there. I hadn't eaten hardly anything all day, which I know isn't good, but I was just busy and didn't take time to eat. I still didn't over do it on Saturday.

Exercise wise.... I have gotten into my bike. I really enjoy riding and I have been going out early in the morning. I hope I can keep that up. As far as the weight training goes, I believe I have found the solution I have been waiting for. The resistence cables from LifeLine are wonderful. I have ordered more. The full range of resistence and the ability to slowly extend and de-stend the load, plus the ease of use and the convenience make them just perfect. I just need to learn more exercises and fabricate ways to implement them. I'm not too worried about what I do on the road. I'll just take a couple of handles and the right bands and do mostly core exercises while on the road. I'll work out aerobically on the recumbent bike most places I stay have available. That will be enough until I can get back home.

So, the overall program is going just fine. I see no reason not to keep this up for a very long time.

Well, I'm still here in Palm Beach Gardens. I checked in Tuesday to a nice place I got booked thru Hotwire called the PGA National Resort and Spa. My room balcony looks right out over the Spa, where a bunch of middle to older mostly overweight people (like me) come to be pampered and enjoy themselves. It is very expensive pampering, but I guess they think it is worth the money.

As for me, I am doing really well with my diet, (I think). I eat a light breakfast of oatmeal, and that seems to extinguish any hunger pangs I have until lunch. I eat salad or vegetables and a little bit of meat. Poultry or fish if I can get it. If I am out and about, fast food restaurants are all over the place and convenient. In the past, I would go there and load up on a burger and fries and way too many calories. Now, I get a salad and a diet coke and I am totally satisfied. The dressing they serve comes in a packet and is 70 to 100 extra calories, and nuts in a packet. I usually eat the nuts and just drizzle about half the packet of dressing over the salad.

Yesterday, I was aboard the Newport and Steve Borkawski (cook) had an awesome meal for lunch. He had some of the best looking ribs I have ever seen. They should have been in some kind of a cooking magazine and I love ribs. These were so plump and meaty, one of them must have been 500 calories. He also had marinated 'ceviche' which is fish and other cut up veggies like pepper and onions in lime juice. The lime juice cooks the fish. I had about a cup of that and it was delicious. The fish was fresh Wahoo they had caught on the trip over. So, I fixed myself a salad, used dressing only sparingly, had a cup of the ceviche and a diet drink and was done. I didn't touch a single rib. He also had bratwurst and kraut. Love that too, but didn't touch....well I cut about an inch off the end of one of those bratwurst and just tasted it. I'll put down 50 calories for that.

As far as this program goes, I am so far thrilled with how good this thing is. And the fact that it is free and this good is also amazing. I looked at one called Calorie King and they wanted a monthly subscription rate. I can't imagine how it would be enough better than this one to be worth paying for. I can look up almost any food from any restaurant or grocery store and if I can't find what I'm looking for, I can just estimate the calories. It is the same with the exercise. It also provides a motivational factor, because when you write everything down, it makes you notice what you've done and want to keep it up or do better than yesterday.

Now, a final word about exercise. I have never really exercised and dieted before. But here are my strategies. No working out in a gym. Not that I am against going to a gym, but with my travel and schedule, it just will not be sustainable to do that. So, what I am doing and plan to keep doing is, walking and jogging some, using recumbent bikes at the hotel if available some, and then using my resistence cables in my room. These resistence cables are awesome. They provide a great exercise for the whole body and I never realized how much exercising the whole body at once can mean. You are working a lot of muscle at one time, so the calorie burn is probably through the roof. I have higher capacity cables with me, but I am going to stick with the lower ones for a while until I get used to the training. I have plenty of time, there is no rush on this. I still want to lose 2 pounds a week until I get down to 170 pounds of muscle. I think I can do it!

Good morning David, I'll be back in a few days with my next update.
